[QUOTE="LJChronx"]

Being that Nintendo has about 10 billion in the bank as reserves, they could buy Minecraft. If they included it free with all systems sold, imagine how many 3DS's they would sell. Plus the game would appeal to casual gamers (And of course core gamers too), which we know Nintendo loves.

ratchet200

What about everyone else who actually bought the game? It's not like their going to have their money refunded.

Actually i just re-read your post XD. So are you saying it would be an actual game that would come with the 3DS like in a pack? Or just some free software thats already on the DS? If they made it an actual game im all for it but i wouldn't go so far as to give it away for free.

Yeah, im saying have the game included in the system software. Why not give it away? They can afford the initial investment and most people would buy a few other games with their new system. They could have paid DLC available for it too, so they could end up making some of their money back from that.

It depends on what you're looking for in the RPG. I love both about equally, so I'll explain what each one does well.

RH Pros:

Superb Story that really sucks you in and makes you care about what happens.

Great soundtrack that is near perfect.

Colorful and good looking graphics that harken back to 16 bit days.

Battle system is unique, fun, involving and never gets boring, and its built in a way such that you can make a winning team out of any combination. It takes place on a 3 by 3 grid, with enemies taking up a certain amount of spaces depending on their type. Basically you move them around the battlefield to make it so you can hit numerous enemies at once. It is never boring and requires careful thought and strategy. Goes far beyong the "Mash A button to attack."

Pretty long game (35- 40 hours for main story) with alot of good sidequests that flesh out the story, characters and world.

No random encounters. (Enemies on screen so you choose when to fight.)

Doesn't require much grinding at all, story always moves right along.

Cool time travel, timeline hopping mechanic.

Cons:

Exploration is very limited. You are limited by what the game wants you to do. As such, fairly linear.

In the beggining, story is pretty wordy. Sometimes cutscenes are long winded.

sometimes isn't clear what to do next, especially for sidequests.

DQIX Pros:

Good 3D graphcis that animate pretty smoothly. Nice to look at.

Good soundtrack.

Pretty long (anywhere from 30- 50 hours)

Has tons of post game stuff to do in the form of over 120 initial quests (with 60 free ones available to download) and endless random dungeons. (Treasure Maps. After completeing a certain sidequest, you get a treasure map that leads to a dungeon randomly. Every time you replay a dungeon you get a new map. Infinite random dungeons.)

Deep customization thanks to Skills and Classes. (Skills carry voer from classes.)

Tons of items to find, collect and use, as well as equipment. (100 hours in and I don't think I've touched over 50% of the items in the game.)

Highly addicting and great for gaming on the go since you decide what to do after the main story. (Kinda like Pokemon.)

Story is fun in a goofy, old school sort of way.

Battle system is flexible in that you can succeed with any party with the right equipment and items. (I ebat the game with a Minstrel, Martial Artist, Thief and Gladiator)

No random encounters. (Monsters on the field. Choose your battles.

Cons:

Can become a grind depending on how you play... If you want to change jobs in the middle of the story you will need to grind for a long time.

Sometimes quests can be repetitive. Alot of them are "kill this amount of monster X" or "find this many of this item."

Characetrs in party are devoid of personality.

So it all depends on what you're looking for. In terms of sheer content, DQIX is the best bang for your buck... it can keep you occupied for a VERY long time. It's fun to customize your group of adventurers and go hunting for rare items and stuff. However DQIX doesn't have the same impact in its story or soundtrack as RH RH delivers in the story and presentation stage (although the gameplay is still rock solid) but doesn't have the same amount of freedom and content as DQIX has.

Hope this helped! You really can't go wrong with either if you love RPG's. Like I said it all depends on what you're looking for and which has you more interested ATM. (Since I'm assuming you'll eventually own both.)

turtlethetaffer

Wow. Thanks man! It looks like I need to get both. I think the only thing you didnt go over very clearly was the battle system in DQIX. Is it turn or action based or a combo of both?

I wanna get a new RPG, as Im almost done with Tales of the Abyss. Should I get Radiant or DQIX? I probably should get both but can only afford one of them right now. Radiant is $35 on amazon and maybe back out of print soon (I dont really know how many reprints they made) and DQIX I can get for $15 sealed off of craigslist. Your thoughts?

I picked up DQIX for cheap a few days ago, and have barely been able to put it down (just long enough to get my finals work done!). Anyway, now I am wondering what game should follow (or try and follow), this amazing RPG. I know there are some other DQ games on the platform, but I have to admit I will miss the battle animations, so I'm not sure jumping straight into those will be the best bet. I was thinking maybe FFIV, or Might and Magic if I can find it...

What do you guys think?

Essian

How much did you pay for it? I found one on craigslist in my area for $15, and its a sealed copy. Thats a pretty cheap right? I might get it tonight.

I try to carry it everywhere I go and I still only average about 1 a week. I wish it was more, but its still a pretty cool idea. I wish the range was farther, as 90 ft isnt much. Does anyone know how far the Vita Near goes? I think its pretty far, like a half a mile or something.

YoshiYogurt

90 feet seems like enough. Figured it was around 30 actually, because I never get anyone.

90 feet sucks when the vita goes for over 3 miles or whatever.

[QUOTE="-Unreal-"]

I sold Paper Mario on GameCube for something like £40 a while ago.

One thing I've noticed people doing is buying the WoW and Diablo 3 collector's editions from shops or online retailers and reselling them on eBay for much more than they bought them for. Some of them go for £190.

toddx77

Interesting you mention that. It seems with current games the collector editions are the ones that seem to be in high value.

If your really into this then check out youtube. They have all kinds of people doing this. There is a show called Game Chasers where they drive around Texas looking for rare games at flea markets, pawn shops, ect. Its kinda cool. There are also other videos of people predicting what games will go up in value in the future. There is a Kirby game on the Wii that people think will go up in value. There are alot of rare games on the DS as well.

LJChronx

I found the game chasers vid which was pretty cool. How did you find the videos of people talking about which games they think might be rare in the future? All I could find were vids of people talking about current rare gamecube games.

Actually, I only found one video. It was from a guy, who said he is starting a series on future rare games. He only has one episode right now, and it only covers one game. In the episode he covers Kirby's Adventure (Wii). I looked it up on ebay and it already sells for $70 sealed. So he's probably right about that game. I wonder if there is some kind of website that list the sales numbers for each video game. That kind of research would help in determining what might go up in value.

On another note, I wish Gamespot would start a forum for collectors. We could talk about our collections and the pursuit of games/systems for our collection. We could exchange strategies, buying and selling techniques, ect. I think it would be cool.

Thanks, I didn't know there was a show like that. I enjoy shows like that. Storage wars and that one on the history channel.

Back on topic: I've looked through E-bay and noticed the same thing. Makes me wish I never gave my older games and consoles to my nieces and nephews.

Yeah the show is pretty cool. If gas wasnt so expensive I would consider doing it. And yeah, I had pretty much every system since the NES with a ton of games. All of them have been thrown out or sold for dirt cheap. Im so mad at myself. The only way to correct it is for me to make good money at a job and eventually buy back all my old stuff. Sux.

[QUOTE="pc-ps360"]

what killing meis the the lack of sony support for the system. i like the hardware but the software is a joke. even 3ds early days had better games even tho they where underwhelming. they need to release the ps3 psn games on the psvita in order for use to get something to play.

danish-death

Umh no they didn't. Rayman and Uncharted alone destroys everything the 3DS had going for it at that time, unfortunately for the PS Vita Rayman is not an exclusive and Uncharted doesn't feature any kind of MP (some co-op, 8 player deathmatch or "horde" mode with other players would've been fine considering they most likely had to rush the game).

Then we have games such as Unit 13, Wipeout, Dungeon Hunter (decent with other players) and Lumines (at the top of my head). There are also quite a lot of PSP titles, but if you've already played those it's not quite as interesting. If you look at the overall picture and not just your personal opinion the PS Vita really isn't that bad all things considering. On another note one shouldn't just judge the games because of the score they got (not saying you are), but both Rayman and Uncharted deserved a better score IMO and I'm hearing about people whose most played game is either Motorstorm or Unit 13.

At any rate E3 is getting closer and I doubt we'll hear anything from Sony before. Sony DO support the system, but announcing games here and there so close to E3 is foolish. They'll most likely try to generate as much hype as possible.

Zelda: OoT (considered by some to be the greatest game ever) isnt better than Rayman and Uncharted? Sure its a remake, but really?
