Depends on who you ask. :P
There's no set standard. To some, you stop being a newb when you've reached 30.000 posts or reached level 30, or been a member for more than 3 years. While to others you stop being a newb when you've gained some kind of notoriety within the community itself.
This question is really easier answered if we have some other measure of comparison:
In video games, you usually stop being a newbie when you stop acting like one. So, how does a gamespot newbie act? I guess lurking the AtM board is your safest bet if you want to find out.
since we cant leave earth to go to these galaxies and whatnot that are this much older than earth, we cannot physically prove that they are that old. but if all the science and math works .. .. yeah.. its 3 am .. this is a rare intellectual thread.. i wish u wouldve posted in the day :(nimatoad2000But, what constitutes physical evidence? Is a presentation of matter a nucleus ingredient? Because if that is really the case, there is very little we can prove. ;o
I think youre quite right. The only ones promoting the view that the various metal subgenres is highly diverse is the metal fanboys. Categorization serves a functional purpose, no doubt - but the fanboys (as with most things) corrupts its by claiming it their own, and thus the elitism sparked by the inflated ego commences. ;oI agree with Pianist that there isn't that much difference between different sub genres of metal. But I must say, I believe these sub-genres exist only to make categorization easier and not to try and promote the view that metal must be an extremely varied genres because of the amount of sub genres in it.
