You're going to get the same idea with every game that has a cover system, but I believe they did it very will in this game. My only complaint so far is the police, I would like them to be more consistent, either pulling me over for speeding every time I am speeding or don't pull me over at all. With some mods I know I'll be spending tons of time with this game.
The gun play is very well done and I really enjoyed the mission in the game. The car handling is a little annoying but way better than what we've seen in any game from the GTA franchise. Will definitely preorder.
It's obviously going to be multiplat, nobody here is going to argue that. However, Battlefield 3 is being developed for PC first and consoles second and will use DirectX11, with so support for DirectX9. Google before you post my friend.
You can try flying in the demo with the keyboard but you probably won't make the landing. The keyboard controls do not respond well and you'll find yourself overturning and overcorrecting in flight. One of the missions in the demo is a visual approach from the intermediate category. You can always try that to get a feel for the game but remember that the difference between keyboard and joystick is night and day. You can get peripherals from all different price ranges, you can get a Logitech 3D Pro for $20 - $30.
You can try the demo but flying is pointless with the keyboard and will just frustrate you. Get a nice joystick in your price range, I suggest the Saitek X52 to start and get the Deluxe copy from Amazon (hard to find in stores these days) and start flying the tutorials and missions. Once you become familiar with flying different aircraft you might want to join Vatsim. Vatsim is an online flying community that is starting a pilot rating program, a real person will teach you how to fly different planes and speak to real air traffic controllers while you fly with other people. FSX can be a beast though, defrag your system after installation for the best performance.
