Review Scores are a reference for us gamers and it's also subject to the reviewers own impression of the game (if he thinks it's not as good as he hoped he won't give it a max score).
Right now, I'll give DMC4 a 9.5. Yeah most of you would ask "how in the world would DMC4 get that kind of score?".
Well, I must compliment Capcom in integrating a new hero as the main role in DMC4. Nero felt really good to play with. He did feel different from Dante, but that was good in it's own way, heck, you'll even get so used to him that you'll miss him when playing as Dante thinking "Damn! Why doesn't Dante have that Devil BringeR!!???".
I'm not even halfway through at the moment but I can say that up to now, DMC4 is a 9.5 for me.
For all those who just played the demo:
After playing the demo myself I was kinda unsure if DMC4 would be a good investment...yeah I actually had doubts cause of the demo, but I decided to give the full game a try. Well what can I say, the game's blowing me away with each new level and cut scene and Nero is a great character to play with. Backtracking? Pfft, wow let's all cry and slam our fists on the ground...cmon, owning the same boss a second time with Dante is pure bliss, and you'll enjoy playing with the guy from DMC3 again!
And reasons to buy or not to buy DMC4 (according to various voices on the Intarwebz, forums, gamesites etc.)
Reasons not to buy DMC4:
- Backtracking
- some Stupid puzzles
Reasons to buy DMC4:
- Best Cut-Scenes in a Game
- Good Voice-Acting (could be better for some characters)
- wonderful Graphics
- Nicely animated bosses and attack effects
- wide array of moves to pull off for nero and dante
- buy skills for nero and have a full refund of the currency you spent on that skill if you're not happy with it
- good story
well, i know some of you won't agree but, that's what i've come up with.
Anyways, just rent the game and play it, and judge for yourself if it's a 5.0,7.486 or 8.0 or whatever. I don't always listen to ratings on any gamesite, and sometimes that's the right thing to do.
