[QUOTE="Marksman2200"][QUOTE="Guiltfeeder566"][QUOTE="Marksman2200"][QUOTE="Guiltfeeder566"]

[QUOTE="Marksman2200"]There is no danger for over population yet, Canada only has 33.5 million people and we are the 2nd largest country in the world, we have plenty of room to spare:PGuiltfeeder566

Its not really about living room, its about the resources needed to support that many people. With China and India rising, along with the western powers already industrialized, their simply may not be enough resources to go around. We would then need to fall back on the ancient city-state policy of aggressive expansion simply to survive.

We can easily survive on the renewable resources and bio-fuels.

At the rate that most countries are converting to them (or not), we will run out of fuel well before we make the conversion. Even now, most nations foreign policy revolves around controlling oil. And even if we do manage to go 100% renewable, population will still grow, along with the land needed to support them. Things like ethanol and farming towers will go aways to delay it, but over population is a very tall brick wall for humanity.

But with over-population comes diesease. AIDS outbreak in Africa is one case of this. The popluation is dropping because of it. Eventuyally another plague will come and will cause a pandemic. Thus lowering population.

Its poor taste and logic to depend on a pandemic to cure over population. That makes almost as much sense as proposing to nuke China.

at least china is doing something about it arent they only letting ppl have 1 kid?

I personally don't think overpopulation is a problem... though I'll quite possibly get flamed for that view as with most views I hold...mindstorm
thats the kind of attitude that gets us nowhere...
