[QUOTE="horgen123"]Wonder how good the bandwidth will be on it... ionusX

mem bandwidth is 512mb

The interface is 512b, the bandwidth will depend on final clocks.
The ES supposedly was running the GDDR5 @ ~4.5ghz but I expect retail to be somewhere within 4.8-5.5ghz, so +300GB/s.

It is a Pitcairn replacement, Curacao, not Pitcairn itself. Doubt they will reuse 7950 since Curacao XT should be able to perform close to a 7950.

can you recommend a better psu that would work with my specs?

monstachruck

Would depend on your budget but you can't go wrong with any PSU from Corsair, even their cheap CX line is decent or if you can spend a little more get a TX650 or GS600 (if LEDs are your thing).
Something in the 400-500w range will work just fine, since I don't expect you will be upgrading/adding another GPU in the near future.

That could potentially be your problem.
That is a notoriously bad bargin bin PSU.

if that is true and so important then 4 generations of consoles wouldn't have picked AMD over nvidia.  Lets be honest here, Nvidias downfall is their unreliable and over priced hardware, and is the main reason even Sony ditched nvidia.  I mean both MS and Sony ditched nvidia even though they could have had backwards compatibility with the last gen games.  They still decided to go to AMD.

RROD.

Exactly.

How is that AMD's fault at all? They didn't manufacture the chips, they didn't design the cooling, they had nothing to do with the RROD.

They seemed to have somehow made the naming scheme even more confusing. So which of these is the new 7950? (in terms of price vs. performance).

It will all make sense shortly...

Get a 4670K

You could get by on a CX430 PSU if you want to save some money. If you want a little better quality, look at some of the cheaper Seasonic lineup.
At least switch to the CX600M

I'm not sure with that case and GPU choice, the GPU cooler looks like it extends a little past the two slots and might conflict with the case.
This would be a good backup/safe 7970

The ~$100 you save with the 4770 to 4670k, either get a SSD or invest in a good CPU cooler.

Are they still going to be making Steamroller CPUs for the AM3+ socket, or is that getting ditched?ferret-gamer

Unknown at this point but there has been hints earlier this year that AM3+ isn't dead.

keep in mind that these are desktop parts. lappy parts wont be ready until q2 2014 (or right in line with steamroller cpu's)ionusX

Mobile chips are shipping throughout Q4 to partners, unfortunately no design will be ready to launch until Q2.

Edit- I love how this is exactly what I have been saying for the last 3-4months when all the Kaveri delay rumors were being spread.

volcanic islands appears to be coming out in october

if you notice in the bottom corner "launch mid october"

these are from videocardz which isnt the nicest source. but this is what we have. also it appears that the max memory on a gpu will be 4gb gddr5 and it will have dual fans at stock (maybe)

http://vga.zol.com.cn/397/3973666.htmlionusX

Most likely a mid range card and/or a lowend.
Seems like a 256bit bus and one config with GDDR3.
