Since when was sony the handheld leader? Also, when was 10 million>21 million?

NorthlandMan

market leader , not handheld leader. and i never said that 10 million was greater than 21 million, i said that it wasnt impressive given the circumstances surrounding Sony at the time they entered the handheld market. Sega managed 10 million, they were not the market leaders at the time and nintendo were far stronger at the time. Sony tried to beat the DS at the height of their popularity, with better third party support (at least initially), a better launch, more support in the videogame media and when Nintendo were on the brink of oblivion

and they still failed spectacularly

I WOULD agree, before i had seen this...

I hate it when I see some noob hermits coming on here and posting the prices to build computers. They think people are stupid so they leave out certain necessary components. Here's the real cost of a PC vs. console

PC:

Case - $45
Motherboard - $130
Processor - $165
Memory - $80
Graphics - $150
Hard Drive - $70
Power - $70
Disk Drive - $32
Operating System - $90
Monitor - $300
Headphones - $37

Subtotal:$1336.40

Consoles:

Xbox 360 - $400
32" LCD HDTV - $900

Subtotal:$1,299.98

PS3 - $600
32" LCD HDTV - $900

Subtotal:$1,499.98

EDIT

I changed the monitor to a 22" widescreen. That should balance things out a bit and now PC and 360 are pretty much the same. As for the PS3 it still wicked expensive.

Hot_Potato

And not to Mention, 2 years into the future grab a new video card, and you have even more superior graphics to the PS3 for like $200, PC owns console in graphics, hence the Wii wins system wars because it's selling point isn't graphics that will be outdated in 2 years, and are already surpassed by crysis (well, as soon as it comes out)

I'd buy more content for that game, i Have to say, if they don't release the sequal to my wii, i'll have to buy whatever console it does come out on =(

Nintendo would be like, drowned in sales.... they wouldn't catch back up to demand until at leastQ4 2008, and the fact is, nintendo can cut the Wii's price and still make a neutral sale and NOT lose money, much less then anything microsoft and sony can say, because sony will lose so much money with a PS3 pricecut, they'll quite literally FAIL this gen.

need..... sticky....... now.....

PS3=90" Plasma TV

Xbox 360= 46" Plasma TV

Wii= SDTV

The wii sells like MAD, but in a couple years, we all know who will eventually take over... Only thing is HDTV sales need to skyrocket before next gen comes out for any chance that PS3 and Xbox 360 will be able to compete with the Wii. If they don't (probably) and Wii sales continue as they stand...then Wii wins this gen.

lol, nintendo would create so many sales, they wouldn't catch up until late 2008.... Honestly, it's a very risky move. People might scramble to get them for more then 2 years from now, or ppl might get pissed at the lack of supply and shun nintendo... Possibly like a drop to $200, instead of 150?

I can safely say there is no game out there on PC that anyone here has played that looks better than Gears of war. Therefore 360 > PC in graphics.

Don't talk about games that are not out yet, simple fact is I've played games on my 360 that look better than anything you've ever played on ANY PC

Bullets4Brains

i can't help but laugh... try SLI 8800GTX oblivion with mods vs an xbox on gears of war. lol... don't even try to compare them, needless to say the computer is on a 30" display with alot higher then crappy xbox resolutions... and then as soo as crysis comes out, then it's REALLY not even close...

EDIT: and too those who said anything above 1600x1800 doesn't look better, just wow. try a 30" monitor vs like 720p? Get real, if you can't tell the difference you shouldn't be in this thread...

"as we head deeper into the Wii's first generation of games, it had become quite clear that Our worst fears have become real. Third party developers are reluctant to make Wii specific games that play to the systems strengths; Instead, they choose to retro fit PS2 games, drastically strip down their next gen titles (Spiderman 3 anyone?) or pass altogether. the few original games (all first party games, so far) are flying off shelves and the system itself is still selling like crazy. despite what third parties do, teh Wii is exceeding expectations and charting its own course which bears this question: does Nintendo Need third party ports to succeed?" -Play Magazine

too true. Nintendo doesnt really need third party ports. All they need is 2-3 Wii exclusives a month, and they will cement themselves in second place for the long run. It foolish to think that the Wii will win this gen, but second aint last, and the Wii would be the perfect secondary console for those that dont own all three (I do)

jigglebilly1983

uh, as sales of the Wii are skyrocketing, more and more devs are jumping on.. just wait a bit =)
