I am trying to write a review on Brawl that sports the fact it is the best of the SSB series and like all my generalizing of reviews I focus on finding all the bad parts of the game. And sadly I found alot. So I was wondering if anyone else noticed these apparent inbalances of the game.
First off, this is completely biased. WHERE THE HELL IS DOC MARIO. Seriously, he was my favorite character.
Now for the real problems. A: Super Smash hits don't justify themselves. Back when I could smash people off the screen at 70%, I now have to get lucky to pull one of these off. Now my problem with this is my smallest of them, it's really the build up of the next problems I had noticed. But staying on this topic, it is a decent change some what because now players can't snap the C-stick and knock players off. Causing us to charge to a maximum to get the desired effect, however, even completely charged the move still doesn't have the smae spectacular jaw dropping effect.
So following that, what do many players use to make up for the fact heir character's brawn can't do what it once did? Well, that is simple. Items. The items, if they're in play, will change the course of the game. Recieving a summon capsule and getting any of them will send anyone with 50% across the screen. Some summons take up the entire screen and keep parading about smashing all but you into oblivion. The skill in items are near nothing now.
Another game changer is the Super Moves which are initiated by a SSB logo glowing sphere that randomly dances about the level. I love it, the moves are gorgeous and amazing. However, some players are left in the dust with this. For inctance, Peach. I love P.Peach, I used her almost non-stop in Melee. Not only was she nerfed, but her super move merely turns on her and rarely can a person get a kill switch out of it. Players who use Fox, Falco, Pit, or Snake are given near invincibility, screen coverage and almost garunteed carnage. Still leaving 25% of the characters to choose from left with a move that maybe only kills one player, or none at all.
The imbalances annoyed me at this point because a big factor I told friends about the game is that every character is pretty equal this time around, but now I see the super moves are not. SSBB will go down in my book as a 9.9-10 scoring game, but I feel I can't write a legitement review because of these inherent discrepencies.
