and yet is still in third place overall.

No really? Ps3 has to sell twice as much as the 360 to catch up. PS3 has out sold 360 in First Year Consoles Sales

do you remember that by the end of the first year (by january 2006) that the 360 has sold over 10 million units. at one year, the ps3 sold, what? 5 million? how is the ps3 selling twice as much as the 360 to catch up? looks like they are selling half as much.

it sold 10mill in 1 year and sold 2mill the 2nd year... its at 12mill right now.... that 360 sure is doing great!

certainly. sony touted the cell as a supercomputer on a chip. a processor so powerful that it will kill the competition. they failed.

they sold off their entire stake in "teh cell" to toshiba and still came out in debt. howard stringer, ceo of sony, said that the format war is a stalemate despite the fact that 11 months ago at ces 2007, sony and the bda proclaimed that blu-ray won the format war.

this is pretty much sony's subtle way of saying "the ps3 is a failure. don't look forward to a ps4."

what does that have to do with anything?

PS3 will still have the cell in it until its discontinued after PS4 comes. bluray has been outselling hddvd and now PS3s are 400$ the exclusives in 07/08 and its the cheapest bluray players out there.

But how is this news good informantion for the PS3? This means that devs now know that it wont be supported much in the future, and the fact that they announce this just a year after the cell hit the market DEFINITELY isnt a good sign at all! Why would devs continue to strive to learn to program for the pain in the *** hardware when they know its temporary? Why would they spend millions making games for it, when they see that Sony lost $1.7 Billion on the cell and is dropping it, the PS3 had two price cuts in its first year, doesn have AAA titles, has a mediocre attach rate, etc, etc.... ????? 400$ is the selling point for consoles, it will sell out 360 within both thier lifetimes. 360 has only sold 12mill in 2 years....like the dreamcast
