A little rant with reviews

Everytime I write a review I swear the same person keeps thumbing it down, its someone on my friends list, but everytime I write a review it gets thumbed down by that same person, so annoying!!

I write reviews mainly for me to read, and it gets annoying when sad people go through all of my reviews and thumb them down, are they really jealous or something, because I can't understand it :|

Anyway, my apologies for moaning, but I just wish GS had a different system, like Little Big Planet, If you've played it, you know you can heart people's levels they've created, but you can't click a hate button. I wish GS had something so that if you wanted to thumb it up then you could, but no thumbs down, because it just gets ridiculous when jealous people roam around GS thumbing peoples down, in this case, nearly all 53 of my reviews!!

So whoever, that person is, if your reading this - STOP! Its so uncool , seriously

Well this morning I posted my Bad Company 2 review up, so if your interested, you'll find it on my review section. I won't post a link, since otherwise it might seem like I'm begging for thumbs up, because of the theme of this blog :P

Anyway, catch you all later, and be cool! 8)

Gaming and other updates

Hi guys, sorry if I missed a few of your blogs over the past few days, its been quite busy.

Firstly, I'd like to say thankyou to everyone who gave me positive feedback on my answers blog, you all seemed to like it, which is good, and most of all, so did I. It was great fun! :)

I've only been on Gamepsot for quick intervals lately, mainly to see your blogs, if I missed one, my apologies.

I've been busy with college recently, since next week I have my work experience week where I'm off to a garage to practice the skills I've learned so far in my course. I've had to arrange an interview, and on Friday I have to go see the boss, so I'm really nervous for that

In gaming, I finished the single player of Battlefield Bad Company 2, Really good, hugely improved over the first game, especially in gameplay. Graphics were nice, not brilliant though, and the characters had thankfully matured in sense this time. Didn't enjoy the multiplayer though, so 1 game was enough.I'm working on the review for that now, and should have it published for this evening, or tomorrow morning. I rate it 8.5/10 :D

In future blogs, I've been putting together some more top 10's for movies, actors and game stories. If it looks like I copyed any of yours, be assured I haven't, since I put together lists before christmas but only just now found those lists. Anyway, thankyou for reading, I'll catch you later ;) 8)

Anyway, the main point of this blog is this. Since a lot of people have been doing these 'ask question' blogs lately, I thought that I don't want to be left out 8)

So fire away your questions, I'll answer anything you throw at me, unless of course, its extremely personal ;)

I'll get the answers ready for a blog on Sunday, bye for now :)

Top 10 underrated PS3 games - #1

Hi guys, dudes, and girls, heres my number 1 choice :D

#1 - FEAR 2: Project Origin

Now this game is simple to me - Its awesome fun! Its basically an FPS horror game, and it is truly scary at times, and definitely full of exciting action. By this point you may think I'm obsessed with gore and blood because it seems to feature in most games I play, but I'm not. :P Its just that in the games I play, there is a lot of shooting, and with that, its only right theres blood, right? Well this game certainly has its fair share of bloody moments, but its all good. The gunplay is perfect to be honest. Its solid, and has no faults, the enemy AI are challenging and clever, as they cleverly utilise cover. All the shootouts are brilliant fun, and there are a wide range of weapons, differing from Modern to Sci-fi.

But the best aspect of the gunplay, is the ability to slow down time. Not the same as Timeshift, where you move normal speed but everything around you is affected, but more reflex time. You'll literally have more time for accurate placement of shots, and it gives you time to look around and assessthe present danger. There are some splendid visual effects by using this too. Of course your limited to how much you can use, but it recharges over a short period.

That girl above is the whole meaning of FEAR. She is the monster that the story revolves around, and of course, where the horror moments come into play. You witness flickers of her presence, which are always enough for jumpy scares, and some scenes are so atmospheric that I didn't want to move on into the shadows where the objective lied. Really creepy stuff. :)

Unfortunately the story was lacking the tension that the original game had, and also a lot of the scares weren't quite as frightening, but this game is still a fantastic one, which is really underrated, but the main thing is, I loved it, and can't wait for the inevitable sequel.

Gamespot rating - 7/10

My rating - 9/10

Thanks for reading my last few blogs :) See you later!

Top 10 underrated PS3 games - #4, #3 and #2

Hey everyone, here's my next part of the list:

#4 - X-Men Origins Wolverine

I thought this was a very well made game based on the movie. Unlike the movie, this shows off Wolverines bloodthirsty side, and you can chop limbs off and spill tonnes of blood. Suitably gory though, since what else would you expect with blades coming out your knuckles ;) As you could probably tell, its all about the combat, lots of various moves, powers and finishing kills. Its not really about the story even though it does vaguely follow it. The movie is what thats for :)

Gamespot rating - 7/10

My rating - 8.5/10

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#3 - SAW

I wanted this game before christmas, but when I saw reviews for it, I became unsure. Thankfully, I ignored them, and SAW turned out to be a great game. I'm a huge fan of the SAW movies, so really, this was a must-buy. It has familiar characters if you've seen SAW 1 & 2, and the story focuses on Detective Tapp, stuck in a booby trapped asylum. Sadly, Danny Glover didn't play the voice in the game, but someone who did return was much more important - Tobin Bell. His voice over the TV monitors, asking you to play a game is seriously creepy, and makes you feel like your in one of the movies. The puzzles are good fun, and at the end of each level is kind of like a boss fight, except its done where you have to save someone in a big trap. If you fail, you get splendidly gory results. This game definitely follows in SAW's footsteps. There are lots of familiar traps from the films, and of course, horrifically violent scenes. The combat is poor, and thats a shame, because this game has a great haunting atmosphere filled with bloody imagery, and Jigsaw's terrifying voice.

Gamespot rating - 6.5/10

My rating - 8/10

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#2 - Dark Sector

Haha, I may have tricked a few of you, since a couple may have expected this to be number 1. :P

But anyway, this game is really underrated. I thought it was very good, and it has one of the best weapons in any game I've played - The Glaive. Thats the 4 bladed disc stuck to his hand, which acts basically like a boomerang. You can dismember enemies in great gory fashion, and even turn it into other forms using the resources around you. Fire, Ice electricity. Awesome to be honest! The story is quite good, I've seen better, but this one wasn't bad. But the main focus is on the gameplay anyway, which is a completely brilliant experience full of human panic and screams

Thanks for reading, my number 1 underrated game will be up tomorrow :)

Top 10 underrated PS3 games - #7, #6 and #5

Hi everyone, here's my choices for number 7, 6 and 5.

#7 - Dead Space

Even though this game got many awards and high scores from the critics, I still feel my favourite game of all time is underrated. It's almost unheard of, since most talk goes to games which are just being released, but in my opinion, Dead Space is technically perfect. There is absolutely no graphical faults what-so-ever (apart from some tiny shadow blurs). The story is by far my favourite in any game, offering plenty of intrigue and twists. The gameplay is absolutely amazing, fulfilling all your bloodthirsty quenches, and is horrific and scary beyond imagination! The graphics are some of the best I've witnessed on the PS3, and the artistic skill put into every environment is simply genius. You may think I'm saying all this just because I love it so much, but definitely not. The more I play this game, the more I like it, and make this, by a long way, the best game I've ever played.

Gamespot rating - 9/10

My rating - 10/10 :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#6 - Timeshift

The graphics are poor behind belief, and the story and characters are somewhat uninteresting, but it excels brilliantly in the gameplay department. The gunplay is suitably gory, and really fun. Many sci-fi weapons to use on each enemy, but what makes the gameplay stand out so much, is the ability to slow, stop and reverse time at will. It never gets old seeing yourself just about to die from a grenade in front of you, then simply press a button, and reverse the whole thing like nothing ever happened. Or to freeze time completely, run up to enemy and steal his weapon, resume time and see him panic at the loss of his sidearm. :P

Gamespot rating - 6.5/10

My rating - 8/10

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#5- Bioshock 2

I'm not only surprised at the scores critics gave Bioshock 2, but I'm actually annoyed. This game improves on Bioshock in every possible way, giving new variations in gameplay, improvements on gunplay and the same beautiful and creepy environments you'd expect. Plus many small improvements in terms of display. But many claim Bioshock 2 to be too similar to the first. To be honest, thats the funniest thing I've ever heard. In my opinion, keeping the graphics and feel of Rapture exactly the same as before, is what made it so good. If they had changed the visual look or gameplay feel, I would have felt letdown, I'm glad it looks exactly the same, its what makes it so god damn awesome!

Gamespot rating - 8.5/10

My rating - 10/10

Thanks for reading everyone, the next part of my opinion on underrated games will be up in 2 days time. :)

Number 6 is out!

Sorry everyone for diverting my attention away from my underrated blogs, but I just had to write this :D

If you saw my boxing day blog, then you'll know that I got the Saw Gorology 5 DVD box set, and well, today, SAW VI is out!

I pre-ordered it ages ago, and now it should be coming this afternoon when the post arrives :D

Extreme Edition too! The films are certainly not for the squeamish, containing some really explicit scenes of gore, but I don't mind it :P

Anyway, tomorrow I'll have the next part to my Underratd series of blogs, see you then ;)

Top 10 underrated PS3 games - #10, #9 and #8

Firstly, I'd like to say thankyou to everyone who commented on my last blog, it made me feel much better :)

Right, down to the real business ;) And remember, my opinion :)

#10 - Silent Hill Homecoming

Well I love that boxart, thats a start. I feel this game has been mainly underrated by the critics, Gamepsot gave it 6.5, and thats round about what most websites gave it. For me though, its far from it. The atmosphere is constantly creepy, since you never know what to expect round the next corner. All the monsters are genuinely frightening, and deformed. I found the combat somewhat difficult, but it still was satisfying when you done it right. I also found the story being one of the games strong points, overall, a great horror game.

Gamespot rating - 6.5/10

My rating - 8/10

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#9 - Prototype

Gamespot actually gave a decent score for this, but I still the feel the majority of people bashed it. The graphics were claimed by a lot of gamers to be PS2-like, but they are a lot better than that. Its true there are a lot of visual blemishes, especialy when up high, but when down on the floor, I felt the graphics were fine. Alex Mercer is brilliantly voiced by Barry Pepper (If you've never heard of him, he played the voice of Corporal Dunn in MW2, and also Private Jackson in Saving Private Ryan).

The story is a real good one, providing intrigue as well as mystery into how Alex Mercer is like he is. Which brings me to the combat, its really gory. You can wander around the streets slaughtering everything you see, with a great range of powerful weapons. Overall, I thought this was an awesome game!

Gamespot rating - 8.5/10

My rating - 9/10

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#8 - Dante's Inferno

Dante's Inferno has been constantly claimed to be a clone of God of War, but to be honest, whats wrong with that? :|

If anything being similar to God of War is a good point. Thats why this game is so good, the combat is fluent and the framerate holds up perfectly. There are lots of abilities to master, and combos to rack up, and with the help of some fantastic art design, Dante's Inferno is a big success in my opinion.

Gamespot rating - 6.5/10

My rating - 8.5/10

Thats it for now, thanks for reading :)

I wonder what attracts them... and why?

I always am shocked at how rude people can be. For example, some of you would have noticed an argument I was having with this 'unknown' person, who I'd never seen on Gamespot in my life. It was nasty and I was surprised. He called me an a**hole, but what I found even more hurtful, was the amount of people who thumbed it up :(

I was actually pretty hurt by that, seeing as I try to be as polite and friendly to people (as most of you know). The only time I get nasty, is when someone is nasty to me. So I'm sorry if some of you actually see me as an a**hole :(

Since my profile is open to everyone, maybe I'll have to set it to private, and delete various people from my friends list, so that only my true Gamespot friends can see my blogs. I'll think over it, because maybe I won't have a choice.

Anyway, enough of me, I'll see you tomorrow for my Underrated blogs, if your interested that is.
