The SNES era was quite a golden era for me personally @ least. Sadly I missed out on the PS1 era of games since from '96 to 2002 I had little interest in video games except for on my pc.

I haven't kept up but from what I have read there are quite a ton of RPG's for PS1/PS2. One day I'd love to play them.

I absolutely love both series however Contra would likely have more sentimental value...although I did play Metal Slug in the arcades quite a bit.

I love the setup for the bosses in each game. I'd love to see a blend of the 2 games. Metal Slug is much more comical in it's art style & humor than Contra but that isn't a bad thing. In fact it plays well into it's strengths in standing out on it's own.

Contra NES - So much money spent in the arcades playing this. I remember being so happy when my cousin & I traded games & I got it for the NES from him. I think I traded my Game Genie for it.

Maniac Mansion NES - I rented this fine gem. It was the first point & click adventure game I ever played. Man that game is still so awesome!

Probably my most sentimental is FZERO for Super Nintendo...

I remember going to Walmart & going to the electronics section & seeing HUGE STACKS of the Super Nintendo bundle w/ Super Mario World for sale not long after the Super Nintendo was released. There was also a small tv setup there & the pure joy I felt playing it. As much as I had enjoyed my NES I KNEW I had to have a Super Nintendo.

The next year in October of '92 my dad had a stroke & thought I was gonna lose him that day. Thankfully he survived it but was in the hospital/rehab. He was the sole bread winner & that Christmas I wasn't sure if we were gonna have a Christmas. Amazingly due to the generosity of family, friends, & strangers it was one of the best Christmas' EVER.

My mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas & could be just one thing. Needless to say I said Super Nintendo!!! That holiday season I recall quite fondly going to Roses department store & getting it along w/ a game. They were sold out of Super Mario World so I opted for FZERO. I had to wait until Christmas to open it but boy was it worth it. I had so much fun skipping over tracks.

Part of what makes this my most sentimental is that my dad was tragically killed in a work related accident in November of last year. I was so depressed & ended up missing @ least a couple of weeks off work. Video games is what helped me to deal w/ my dad having the stroke in '92 & here almost 20 years later again is helping me to get through these difficult times in losing him.

Unfortunately due to me missing so much work I had to sell my PS3 & return the HDTV I had just bought. Wasn't able to play much of any games until I bought a used PSP for $20 on craigslist last week.

He never really played video games but I am ever so thankful that he & my mom got me that NES for Christmas in the late 80's.

I know that RE5 got mixed reviews, but I was wondering if you guys thought RE5 was worth $20 for the normal edition or would you recommend waiting for the director's cut that is supposed to be coming out?

Best Buy has RE5 for $19.99 on Black Friday & I was contemplating purchasing it.

I can't wait until I can save up enough money to buy a PS3 & this game. I have not played it, but everything about it in vids I've seen make me want it oh so bad. So bad in fact that I am even considering selling my NES games, 2 NES systems, & SNES collection to go towards buying a PS3.

Interesting thread...

As of late I have been debating about which to get first...a HDTV or PS3. I have a gaming PC & a Wii (preordered it & got it @ midnight launch) & w/ all of these awesome PS3 exclusives, I've really been wanting to get a PS3. I want to play Demon's Souls so bad I'm almost salivating :P.

I currently only have a 20" SDTV. Needless to say playing a PS3 on that isn't going to be the greatest experience in the world. Games will still be fun but look like crap until I can get an HDTV. Of course HDTV's aren't that expensive for a decent one. I just don't know if I'd be able to afford a new HDTV (unless I got that Samsung pc monitor that could also double as an HDTV) and PS3 by March.

Twister_69

Wow so i guess i need to wake up early... lol thats pretty good deal $30.

Yeah, hopefully I can wake up early enough to snag this deal. Then again I'm not sure if I'd rather put that $30 towards saving up for a PS3. Hmm...

It depends...do you want an RPG or do you want a platformer? I haven't played either game yet, and I like both genre's, but I would lean towards Dragon Age.

You can find some good deals on craigslist even. For example just today I saw a local ad where this girl was selling her ex-boyfriend's copy of MW2 for the PS3 for $30 because he left it behind and she doesn't play videogames.

This is but just one example, but you get the idea.
