If it were last summer i'd say absolutely pick it up for the 360 but right now i'd say no. It's kinda sad.. unless it's halo or gears the online modes of a game are only populated for the first couple months.
Absolutely do NOT open your 360 and clean it, it will void the warrantee and you can screw up your box even more if you dont know what you're doing. Best thing to do is try and get a jasper.. i've had 11... 11.. xbox 360's since it's launch and the average life of each 360 was 3 months. They would either rrod or would stop reading discs. Sometimes i'd send my 360 in to get repaired and the one the sent back wouldnt work when i hooked it up.. and by the way if they replace your console they don't send you a new console.. they send you a refurbed console or one that they think they refurbished but really didnt so you get a broke 360 back. Long story short my latest 360 failed and i was sick of microsofts terrible customer service so i decided i'd trade it in (keeping my hard drive) and get a brand new xbox. I got 100 dollars trade in and spent 100 dollars to get a brand new jasper arcade 360. That was in november and it's still working like new, this is the longest i've had an xbox 360 without it breaking and i'm finally enjoying playing games without thinking OH NO HAVE I BEEN PLAYING FOR TOO LONG?! WILL THE XBOX READ A DISC THE NEXT TIME I TURN IT ON?!! Get a jasper model 360 if you're sick of constantly having broken 360's.
I really doubt they'd ever integrate something like that because L4D is more of a pick up and play game with friends than it is a super competitive game. I too have the same problem, me and my 3 buddies have been playing since the first day L4D came out and we can only lose if we do it on purpose. There are alot of fun things you can do though to kinda give the other team a fighting chance. Try death racing, when it's your turn as survivors everyone run through the level without helping eachother.. everyone for themselves. First one to the safe house or the person who gets the furthest or last one to die wins. It's actually pretty intense and usually pretty funny too. Try only using pistols or only using hunting rifles while playing as the survivors is another fun one. When you're infected play only using melee I.E. hunter isnt allowed to jump, smoker cant use the tongue, boomer cant puke, tank can only throw rocks. It's funny when you kill all the survivors with only melee attacks and it's quite challenging and absolutely evens up the odds a little bit. There are alot of little fun ways to even up the score a little bit if you and your friends keep kicking peoples butts so bad they quit.

Dead Space is a great horror game, no zombies but the necromorphs are alien.. zombie.. people things.. To answer your question if any horror or zombie games are coming soon, yes. Dead Rising 2 is coming soon and if you like zombies i'd look into it.
I've been extremely excited for Sacred 2... ever since i quit playing MMO's i've been looking for something to fill the void and i think Sacred 2 will pull it off.
