I want a game similar to SNES's "Secret of Mana".... co-op slashing and bashing on that game was crazy fun! Why we haven't seen a direct, successful sequel to that game (stateside at least) is beyond me... maybe we have, and I just missed it along the way but yeah... some co-op, NON-turn-based RPGs would be more than warmly welcomed by me. My girl and I live together, and if a game is co-op and has a good storyline, it's much easier for us both to get involved and play for hours on end.

Should get yourself Dosbox and play Wing Commander 2: Revenge of the Kilrathi.... awesome game, I remember getting it when it came packaged with the Soundblaster 3D card back in the early 90's. They added audio dialog so the scenes were even more awesome, not sure what the SNES ones were like.

Ok I stand corrected call me a mature gamer. I want blood, sex, violence in games. I've been around since the Atari days so I guess I know what I like in video games. You just can't make an adult guy watch kids cartoons.4dry4n

Then yeah, you're up pooh creek without a paddle as far as Wii exclusive mature games go... most mature titles that come to the Wii will probably be available on either Xbox360 or PS3 too. Sounds like you want games like Assassins Creed, and Gears of War... while I would love to defend Wii with the news that titles like these are on the way, the sad truth is that I believe we are far from that happening anytime soon.

My advice: Sell your Wii (if you wait til day after thanksgiving, around xmas you might snag a pretty penny for it) and use the money to grab a 360. Even if you don't sell it around the holidays you shouldnt have any problem finding a buyer.

Man, this is tough... I'm just gonna list my games and give'em a 0 for met expectations, -1 for failing to meet expectations, and +1 for exceeding them.

Wii Sports 0
Wii Play -1
Twilight Princess 0
Mario Galaxy 0
Excite Truck +1
Mario Strikers Charged 0
Guitar Hero III +1 (I've hated rythm games up til this one)
Bomberman Land 0
Super Smash Bros Brawl +1 (I didn't care much for the Smash Bros Melee, brawl is awesome though)
Metroid Prime 3 -1 (I was incredibly hyped for this game, such rave reviews, I like it... but it's too slow sometimes)
Resident Evil 4 +1 (basically a direct port from GC, really low expectations, turns out to be friggin sweet)
Super Paper Mario +1 (the whole idea of this game sounded lame, but it was pretty entertaining)
Sega Bass Fishing -1 (not what I remember from Dreamcast days)

[QUOTE="Mack2D2"]

[QUOTE="dominae"][QUOTE="Mack2D2"]Is this whole thread a joke? Maybe I'm just cold hearted, but no video game has really made me even the least bit emotional... I might be able to understand someone getting their heart strings tugged from some of the Final Fantasy games, maybe 1 or 2 of the Zeldas... but they are games, and I for one am able to enjoy games without being sucked completely into an alternate sub-concious type world where I start to actually care for video game characters as though they were friends of mine. I love video games, and I'd probably be bored as crap without them, but come on...dominae

So movies and music (or any art in general) don't trigger any emotion inside of you? Ok, then.

The occasional movie will make me feel a little emotional, but there's a large difference between those movies and any games I play. The movies that tend to make me feel emotion are ones based on real life events, and these events sometimes strike home on things that have happened in my life that I can relate to. I can't really relate to a magical midget sacrificing herself to destroy a portal to a dark world... or a giant spikey shelled tortis kidnapping a princess who is then rescued by a plumber.

So you only find emotional worth in characters, not themes? In your example of the "magical midget" you bring up the theme of self-sacrifice in light of a greater good. If you can get past the fact that these are "magical midgets" you can actually explore what it might take for you to commit such an act, or what you might feel if someone sacrificed himself for you. Many games cover epic themes not unlike antiquated literature.

My mom has the same problem. She can't stand Lord of The Rings for the same reason. She can't get past the mythological characters to see the human themes of conflict, sacrifice, and redemption. Eh, to each his own.

Yeah, I can see your point I suppose.. guess my difficulty comes with low polygon count cg characters as opposed to real live actors. Who knows, but for whatever reason, I don't ever find myself getting emotional when it comes to games. Agree to disagree eh?

As for your mom, not sure what's with her, hehe... I personally can get past the mythological theme of LoTR and enjoy it for it's involving story and emotional (albeit stretched when it comes to Arwen's involvement from the books) plot and find myself relating to multiple characters in the storyline. Heck, I can even relate to Star Wars (the true "Trilogy") characters.

Hardcore gamer... pfft

I'm tired of "hardcore gamer" being limited to referring to punks that like shallow plots and plenty of bloodshed. If you mean what I mean when I say "hardcore gamer" then there is plenty that the Wii has to offer. A hardcore gamers game, to me, is one with a heavy plot and plenty of challenges or problem solving. Not necessarily WiFi, but it helps... basically a game, that throughout the play provides a solid story line, intense action, and challenging puzzles.... requiring not only fast reflexes or problem solving capabilities, but both.. simultaneously. I think that should at the very least offer up Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess while RE4 barely misses out because I don't see any challenging puzzles in it.

If you want a "mature" game with lots of bloodshed, don't call it hardcore... call yourself a Bloody Gamer, or M+ gamer or something... cuz if you can't dig all the great titles on Wii so far, you're far from a "hardcore" gamer.

[QUOTE="tofanatic"]i cried in RE 4. whenever ashley was stolen again i cried because i was so happy that the game would continue and that i would not have to deal with her and the way she yells at leon.TizzMasterRock

LEEEEOOOON! lol

Now see.. THAT I can understand... thanks for quoting tofanatic Tizz, I missed that one. Ashley gets my vote for most annoying video game character so far this millenium.
