Wrong, not 1080p in future because graphic will be more and more complex, unless it's PS4. However, we see 1080p seems to be slightly better because it has better technology.

Clearly, 1080p TV is usually better than old 720p in refresh rate, color, effect and more thing. You can see the difference even not watch at 1080p.
