Just about done with Gamespot

Not sure what they are thinking at the Gamespot headquarters but there are too many factors that are making me hate this website more and more.

-Forum moderation is inconsistent.

-Unions have been all but forgotten. I use to love joining GS Unions in the past and it was a great way to communicate with other people with the same interests as myself. The feature is still there, but it has yet to be updated in over 5 years. I have a big feeling they will be doing away with Unions once the new redesign comes around. Which brings me to my next point..

-Too many redesigns, not enough focus on techincal problems. This website, for how big it is, has been having constant techincal issues every day since I signed up for this site back in 2005. Every redesign has introduced more and more techincal issues than before. GS just hasn't put enough work in to fixing the bugs of this website.

-Reviews are horrible. I sometimes wonder where in the hell they find these nutjobs that review the games. Maxwell Mcgee, Kevin VanOrd, Tom McShea, ...the list goes on. I do not like any of these reviewers and too often I find that these reviewers are not playing enough of the games to come up with an accurate review. The scores are often way off the mark compared to the Metacritic scores and usually not with enough reason. And about those scores..

-This was the tipping point for me, why in the hell are they going from .5 increments down to .0? Meaning 9.0, 8.0, 7.0..etc. Absolutely a stupid decision and it does not help gamers make decisions on whether to buy a game or not. It makes the reviews less precise and that's the end of it. To me, there is a big difference between an 8.0 and 8.5 and especially between an 8.0 and 9.0. Reviewers are now going to be forced to round their opinions to one score or the other. This is a really stupid decision Gamespot.

-I'm going to stick around for the redesign and see what they bring, but if technical problems still persist, the scoring system is changed, and I don't see a significant improvement in the design of the site- I'm done here. I love many of the people I've talked to on this site and have had great discussions, but I can't continue to support this website if the downward spiral continues.

Wish List:

I've missed out on some games this year but I want to get these games and finish them before I have to go to school next January.

-Assassin's Creed 3

-Mass Effect 3

-Black Ops 2

-Borderlands 2

-Max Payne 3

-Darksiders 2

I doubt I'll be able to do so because I already have a lot of games I like playing every day but I think this is a good place to remind myself of the games I do need to get!

Gaming laptops?

I am going to be looking for a gaming laptop soon. Here's a few reasons why:

1. I miss PC gaming. I miss the MMORPG's, RTS's, better graphics, cheaper games, infinite backward compatability, and I also have missed out on so many PC exclusives that I want to catch up.

2. I am starting to lose a little faith in console gaming. Graphics are starting to show their age and too many sequels and not enough new IP's that are good.

3. Reason I want it to be a laptop is because I need a new laptop because my current one is starting to break physically and it can't play any games at all. Also, I don't want to build one because I have no space in my room for a desktop+table.

Can anyone help me find a decent enough gaming laptop that will run some games today on high? The best one I could find for my price range(I'm being cheap) is the Lenovo Ideapad Y570 which can run most games but may have trouble with future ones. That one is going for $650 after an e-coupon on their website.

Considering leaving Gamespot

I have been trying out numerous other gaming sites lately and while none have me hooked quite yet, I have been very much displeased with Gamespot. 1. My number one issue is that the forums are completely whack now, and I have a lot of trouble loading certain links, too many timeouts, and also the site simply loading very slow at most times. 2. The community seems to be strong, but I do see dwindling activity in game forums as well as the main forums. 3. Fuse is pointless and tracking games and your friends is still not as intuitive as it needs to be.

Anyway, this site offers a ton of content, but I'm starting to lose fate in its reliability and community. I have enjoyed my time here overall and I've had plenty of great conversations and made some friends but I may altogether just find another site that can provide me the same content with less frustration. I am still in consideration right now so nothing is official yet but I thought I'd let you all know :)

When will the Kinect get fun?

Some of the games are fun for a short while but outside of Dance Central, there's none out there with any lasting appeal. I am finding uses of the Kinect in games like Mass Effect 3 much more ideal for the future. What do you guys think? Should I give the Kinect a little more time? I will sell it if there aren't any good games coming out for it..

So...March 6th...

That's the day I'm aiming to get my PS Vita. I pondered financing to get one (for 6 months) but I'm getting a nice little tax return and extra hours at both my jobs, so I shall have enough by then to get myself the Vita. Not 100% yet, as I'm still on a budget, but it's looking good for the future. I can't decide which edition I want to get, but I will definitely start off by getting it with two games. I want MLB 12 The Show and something else. Can't decide. Anyone want to help me decide? :]
