A Conclusion of Life

As I have blogged about several times in the past, for the past few months, my grandmother was in the hospital in Vancouver with septicemia; an infection of the bloodstream.

Only a few minutes ago, my mother phoned from the hospital, and my grandmother has passed away.

Whenever I think of death, I always remember the wise words from the end of the movie 'Ladder 49'. It quoted something like this:

Let us not mourn his death, but celebrate his life.

However, oddly enough, why don't I feel sad? Should I not cry over my grandmother's departure? This is the first death of someone close I've ever had, and yet I feel no difference, only the slightest tinge of guilt inside for knowing that I should be mourning.

Perhaps I will mourn in time.

And what a great 50th blog this is.

Consequences of Boredom: Elephant or Monkey?

During English class, we were going over our mock exams. I nearly aced the exam (nearly - I already blogged about the ridiculous government exams), so my friend and I were just talking about anything.

One kid beside us (not quite sure how we got to the subject), but he asked us the following:

In space, if a monkey with a knife and an elephant were to fight, who would win?

As stupid as the question was, it took me half of an instant to come up with the following response:

The monkey! Due to it's size, it is most likely to be able to hold it's breath longest!

The kid beside us laughed, and added in the fact that there's air. I thought for a moment, recalled that the monkey had the knife, and immediatly came up with the idea that the monkey could throw the knife. However, my friend corrected me saying that the knife would hardly damage the elephant, and that the monkey could hardly be able to throw the knife hard enough anyways.

I contemplated over this for a few more moments, thinking of the image of an elephant and monkey staring at each other in space, immobily floating, when I came up with another conclusion!

Due to it's massive size, the elephant would most likely need food before the monkey!

I told my friend the idea, but he shrugged me off saying that the elephant could somehow absorb it's own body fat in order to stay alive longer. (I find the idea ridiculous - Is that actually possible??) Anyhow, it's a monkey! It can eat it's own crap, unlike the elephant who would not be dextile enough for such a phenomenon.

I told my friend the idea, then him and the kid next to me just stared... So I immedietly began thinking of other possible solutions. I asked the kid next to us the following questions:

Is it in space, or in a box?

A box.

Are they pushed into the box, or do they appear instantaneously out of nowhere?

They are pushed.

And then, I found the obvious conclusion:

When the monkey is pushed into the zero-gravity chamber/box, due to Newton's Law (whichever one it was), the monkey will stay in motion. Due to this law, the monkey will have the ability to jump from wall to wall slashing the elephant with his knife. The elephant however, is not agile, and will not be able to perform such a feat. And due to the zero-gravity, it has no way to use it's body weight against the monkey. The elephant is but a giant useless target, of which the monkey can easily overwhelm. In a zero-gravity chamber with air, a monkey with a knife can easily beat an elephant.

What do you guys think? Who do you think would win; a monkey with a knife, or an elephant? Your reasons? And is it actually possible for the elephant to absorb it's own body fat enough to survive longer than the monkey?

This semester almost finished!

Unlike Fire_EmblemFan, I still have another two weeks in this semester! However, I just got my new Schedule for next semester.

I've got Informational Technology (Also known as 'Geek Block' imo - at least I might be able to learn a bit of programming, even if it's only Java. Who knows, with it I might even take it upon myself to make the 'Dodgeball' game for the cellphone!)

Planning... yay! A class to sleep through! (All you ever do is figure out what you want to do in the future. For me, it's either electronical and computer engineering, or help out with Synergistic Studios with j4y)

Science, which is my second favourite academic course.

Mathematics, which is my favourite academic course! (I'm actually a year ahead of the rest of my peers)

And... yeah, that's it.

In addition to all this, I just discovered that there's a COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AWARD in my school! And, since I haven't taken any New Years Resolutions, I've decided that it will be ME who's going to win it three years in a row! I've gotta keep my geek ego up somehow.

But, to add a bit more meat to this blog, I might as well add my two newest sigs! Both were created out of the unique aspect known as 'boredom':

Based off of a Turok background:

Inspired by the song 'Chariots of Fire':

Tell me what you think!

Government Enforces their Opinions

As some of you may know, wow... I start my blog like that alot, anywho... As some of you may know, Mock exams and government exams are coming around right now for highschool students, and being in grade ten, I now have experienced how completely retarded the English government and mock exams are.

For those of you who don't know what government exams and mock exams are, they are 'difficult' (depending on your intelligence) tests of which mean alot of marks in your classes. Government exams are exams sent by the government for the students, and mock exams are 'mocks' the of government exams, which prepare the students for the big government examination.

Personally, it feels as if the government is enforcing their opinions on us. On the test, I was the first to uncover the harsh truth...

Every question seemed to be your opinion; how you interpreted the poem/story, and every answer was MULTIPLE CHOICE! In other words, they're asking our opinion, and there happens to be only one answer!

Is this fair? They are saying that some of our opinions are wrong, are they not? If I say that flower better represents him than wind, who are they to tell me that I am wrong, but I can very easily show them how much a flower represents the guy.

It was a poem of a guy climbing the mountain, how exhilirated he was once on top, and how saddened he was to be back down in the valley. The question was 'Which of the following elements/objects best represent the writer?' The actually answer was wind, while I wrote flower.

Why did I say flower? Because of the following... his life IS a flower. He starts his climb in the valley, just as the flower starts it's life in the valley, yet as the flower grows-and as he climbs the mountain, the feather begins to blossom, and once it's reached the peak of it's growth (the peak of the mountain), it blossoms! Showing colour, hope and happiness! Same with the climber when he reaches the peak, he is excited, and joyful!

Personal Taser - WTF

I understand that only a few of you actually had time to read my last blog before I posted this one, but I saw this on the news, and immediately thought: W-T-F.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=CK2OsttO614

Is this really needed? I understand Americans have the right to bear arms, but this is really pushing it. 'Defence System'? I doubt it, sounds to me like a false way to put tazers on the market. Right now, aren't they debating whether tasers should be used be police officers? And now they're releasing it to the public! I don't know about you guys, but I personally think this is by far the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Cloning: Yay or Nay?

For French class, we're doing a debate about cloning (in general). I am personally for cloning - however, the teacher has put me on the team AGAINST cloning.

For those who have been leaving in a hole for the last few decade, and for those who haven't been living in a hole, but still don't know what cloning is; it is the act of copying the DNA from cells/animals/humans to create an identical replica of it.

What arguments do you have for cloning? Any good ideas against it?

(sorry for the short blog - I'm slightly busy)

Ad Aware: Victoria, BC - Perfect Orgasm

Not what you think!!!! Only meant to seem that way.

As some of you may know, especially any fellow British Columbians out there; a new ad campaign has been going on for a while now by Victoria, BC (Canada) to bring new visitors to Victoria.

The tourism industry has started a 'crude' ad campagin using suggestive terms to lure tourists to Victoria, and to persuade them with culinary delights. There have been some intriguing quotes used such as 'Your Search for the Perfect Orgasm is Over' (as seen above), along with some other interesting ideas.

Personally, I think it's a creative way to bring visitors to Victoria. However, is it a good idea? How well does this fit in with society? And most of all, will this actually lure the right type of people to Victoria?

Comments? Concerns? For or against?

Dodgeball: COMPLETE!

I'm proud to say that the (so far) final version of Dodgeball is complete!

(click for link to download)

I am proud to be the graphic designer for this game, which was created by the great Game Development Union, also known as Synergistic Studios! We've been busy on this game for five months, and I'm amazed it's actually done!

If you find any bugs with the game, please either whisper GabuEx, or report it to the Project 1: Phase 6: Bugs Thread in our Board.

Our next project is currently in phase 4; the storyboard phase. If you have any ideas, please post them as quickly as you can here, you really don't have much time until the end of the competition.

If you want to join the union, and you'll be loyal, feel free to join and contribute wherever you'd like!

To all of you who are part of 'SS,' to all of you who wish they were, and to all of you who don't give a crap, a raise a cup of sparkling juice to thee! (I'm too young to drink wine).

I wish you the best of luck in any future endeavors, as we began the New Year with resolutions in our hearts, and game ideas in our heads!

Difficulty in Simplicity

Have any one of you found that some people have difficulty in keeping things simple?

For example; NASA is spending thousands of dollars making luxury seating for their space shuttles, while Russia uses wood as a base for the chairs.

What do you guys think? Any opinions?
