Episodic content is best used as a bonus to existing content, or as a casual gaming tool. Halo 4s episodes worked well in principle although weren't terrific bits of gameplay, and I played (still am) The Walking Dead on my iPad which worked alright
Comedy Blizzard... Go burn in the flamey flamey pits of hell. This is a borderline Bioware, Mass Effect 3 ending, slap in the face to us PC gamers. Actually, it's worse as they didnt release the proper ending to one system and not the others. What possible business mind thought it was a good idea for PC to be online only and console to work offline? The only thing thats going to do is PISS OFF YOUR CORE CUSTOMERS.
I know what you mean, although not all the alien games sucked, Alien 3 both on the Mega Drive and the SNES were fantastic games for their time.
The original 2 Aliens vs Predator games on the PC were also very good, perhaps borderline classics.
I do agree though that this particular plotline makes no sense what-so-ever, and they'd be far better off working on some original material in the aliens universe. Anyway, when Prometheus hits in a few weeks, everything from Alien onward is pretty much going to get retconned imho...
@psuedospike The only problem there is it isnt Microsoft or Sony, its the publishers like EA who are doing the nickle and diming. It's written into contracts now that developers have to supply DLC for games, so don't expect it to stop any time soon.
There is onlt one way this is going to go. PC gamers love steam yet you can't trade games from steam. All that will happen will be that physical media like disc will cease to exist and everything will be downloaded from the net as and when. This will also mean that accounts will be locked to specific consoles, possibly with gps in, to prevent peolpe sharing accounts/consoles so more than one person gets to play the game. It's sh** I know, but thats the way things are going imho.
