since it doenst really bother you about the backwards compatability i'd say go with the 40 gig as well. i believe the 40 gig only comes with two usb ports on the front instead of 4 like the 60 has but that alot of times doesnt matter either and like someone else already said you can upgrade more memory to it. yeah unfortunelty i think youre going to have to get a new system. The sony help line isnt that bad i've gotten through quite a few times for me and my friends, but depending where you got it you could either take it back and get a new one if you are still within the days that are on the reciept or you can call sony and they'll get you a new one without a fight. Sorry that had to happen >.< but sony is cool about it. you'll be playing in no time

my 60 had a bit of an issue with that before, do you know if its only with ps3 games or everything you put in there including older ps2 and even movies? mine usually does it only with call of duty and i hear i'm not the only one. try cleaning the disc hard and throughly with a soft tissue or microfibre cloth and then the outside of the disc imput area to make sure nothing is getting on the disc from there.

I've played both versions and as you probably figured out that the 360 is a bit better than the ps3. I honestly think its not a big problem at all. I've played all the games about equally and besides lag in Team Fortress and the loading times I cant really hammer this game. Its a great collection with alittle bit of something in each game that is sure to catch someone's interest.

Portal and Team fortress are by far my favorite, portal is a short but mind racing game. Sometimes it can be easy but it'll get you thinking here and there and the humor was my favorite part. Its intelligent and well thought out. Team fortress is just big fun. Sure it lags, and what i have see to be true if you get a uk server to play on it doesnt lag usually the US ones do it more often. It lets you pick from a vareity of characterswhich one is bound to fit your style and you take a whack at it. The controls are simple so it takes no time to get yourself some major points. Half Life 2 and episode one and two are a great combination to that series you get to catch up on the story if you havent already, although there is still number one out there but reguards to that this game is somewhat lenghty has puzzles to keep you interacted and fun moments in the game like hoverboat killing and controlling aliens to do your dirty work ^_^ who wouldnt want that?

All in all despite the ps3's minor issues i've come to either deal with them until the patch comes out or completely ignore it because they are all wonderful games. If you go to a gamestop or eb i'm sure you might find one for used and that way you can always take it back with full credit in the case that you dont like it, but i'm pretty sure that you'll find it most impressive when you give it a chance. Its worth far more than $60 because of the value it has and of course it comes with 5 full games that are worth your time. I would pay 60 alone for team fortress if i had to or even portal ^_^ its a great buy and i hope this helped with your decision!

Home would be really nice, I think we were supposed to have the beta in december (before christmas) and that never happened. I've been waiting for it for so long. Also more demos would be great, like the club or even haze maybe? i believe europe has the club so why cant we?

And of course i'm with everyone else in wanting to play music while in game or atleast be able to see my messages received.

The AI isnt too horribly bad like alot of people have said here, but I wont deny the lack of challenge in some of the assasinations. Alot of times I assasinated someone and this whole epic get-away was too easy. All it took was climbing the tops of the city and practically walking my way out, not really my idea of creating havoc on the poor town >.<

But as someone said before when you are doing the missions, the pety ones that is such as eavesdropping and etc, you can find alot of fun messing with the people because they are slow to catch on.

I'd say the worst flaw of this game would be that its way to easy to fly through the game after you get the counter move. Once you get it your god and no one can stop you. You can take on hundreds of guards in seconds and thats that, takes the point of stealth away from the game really. But if youre renting it why not? there isnt a lose to play it and see if for yourself because it is a very unique game ^_^

I definetly agree with treelog187on this one. The entire libriary for PS3 is not bad at all and everyone has their own taste as to what is good. I can tell you that COD4 is one of the best shooters I have ever played, its both fun and rewarding. Uncharted Drake's Fortune is a wonderful story with great characters and very interactive, and in that it also has replay value. I would say assasin's creed is another title that isnt too bad on its own, though there are parts when it feels very repetitive and I for my opinion would say it doesnt have replay value which is always important. I also recently got the Orange Box and love i. Its five games for one and there is bound to be something in there that grabs your attention to a fun comedic shooter, to angry portal robots to a wonderful recreation of halflife 2 with episodes one and two.

Its good to test some others that may grab your attention and if worse comes to worse buy them used that way you can take them back and get credit for it so you can always get something else ^_^ it saves alot of time and that way you have a back up plan if the game just isnt for you.

I've recently been keeping up with the Turok movie trailers and pics and I think its bringing the old turok back, but with the obvious graphic changes and such. Most of the Turok series hasnt been all that great by far except for the first one which I believe was on the N64. I didnt care for any of the others really but I think this one could be promising. The AI looks like its going to be reacting very well to different situations and I think it'll be refreshing.

As for Haze, its new and its different and thats what makes you want it I think. In all honesty I think it'll do moderate or horrible and I think its going to take some first hand reviews to even get people to get the guts and buy it. I'm not even sure myself, my bf is getting it and I'm going to see what its like before I consider it.

In the end I think both could be really promising and I think its going to take playing it to really see the potential of either of them ^_^
