Making it 2D again wouldn't be much more then a remake/rehash, eh? There is more land to conquer at the 3D side. The 3D platformer needs some great original games to live a new live again, like in the days of Mario64 and Crash Bandicoot. Donkey Kong would make yet another wondefull addition, as the franchise has acces to Jungle goofiness that Mario (or any other platform hero) cannot touch, as it isn't their terrain.

Donkey Kong 64 was a very original and fun platformer. And in fact, Iam supprised that no sequel to it has been confirmed as of now. It wasnot perfect but the whole concept was. If done right, we could get another one. There is so much to do here.

Of course, I am not allowed to say WHAT should be done, as I barely glanced at the original 3D game. But when I saw it, I was SO pissed I didn't have such a cool expension pack.

Age of Empires in the future is not something I would buy. There are plenty Sci-Fi strategies that cover up for that, every single one better thenanything AoE could pull off.

They also pretty much had their 'fantasy spin-off' with Age of Mythology. A more 'Tolkien based' fantasy RTS might work, but it won't be different from AoM in it's essence. And this is also a filled niche.

To be clear: The thing that influences a strategy game most is it's setting. If you want to make an RTS, first thing to come up with is a setting. AoE has allready filled the fantasy age, classic age, dark age, and rennaisanse (or whatever it's spelled). Going further into the future would not be a good idea, as it has to step into the allready filled niche of the modern age and sci-fi RTS. There is little need for AoE in the world of Starcraft and, well, ANY RTS that takes pace in this age.

The best thing to do would be either remake on of the older settings (No one will complain to see an updated AoE2), or to go further back in time.

Before the Classical age, there were few interesting civilizations. Most likely, we will have to look for one at the asian side of the world. Or the native american side.

OR create a nice 'What if' setting. To create a fictional world, where the great civilizations were not divided by geographical or time-line mountains. What would happen if the Romans had to fend of the Samurai and Ninja? What if the Chinese had to deal with native Americans? Where somehow, apart from the Romans, a Dark-age like European civilization develloped. Arabians arguing with Inuit? Perhaps not a fine idea to combine with the very realistic game of AoE, but interesting nonetheless.

I vote for the last option. That is, if they should make a sequel at all. AoE is a franchise that pulled of every conventional trick in the box. A remake, using todays technology and skills would work, but they would have to do some major twisting if they made another sequel.

Online has been confirmed allready. Don't know about the excact details, but a Grand Prix seems to be the most likely choice. 8 players was also pretty much confirmed. (even though the number 16 keeps buzzing through my mind. I should take another look at the E3 presentation)

So we can skip the online stuff, Nintendo has that part allready settled.

Now, perhaps there ARE a few things we can change about the core gameplay. How about including a stunt system to gain extra speed while airborne or something? Even though Mario Kart never wend truly overbaord with the airborne stuff, it might be in fact pretty cool.

You know, scratch the stunt system. A single 'signature stunt' for every character would do the job fine enough. No need to make Tony Hawk out of this, but looking cool in front of your opponents doesn't hurt.

Hmmm, well we don't really HAVE to fill those game associatitions slots, right? Perhaps it's better to keep this a completely neutral union.

Well, Mario Kart is pretty much a pefrected franchise. All they could ever add were more tracks and online multiplayer. But there were a few things getting on my nerves in Double Dash:

The difficulty, or more accurate, the lack of it. After finishing the mushroom cup on 50cc, I tried the 150cc star cup just for kicks. Now, perhaps I am a prodigy or something, but when you play a game at the highest level available after a mere 15 minutes of practice, and you get the highest available score (first at all tracks) then there is something wrong. I want a game that challenges the player, not a cakewalk that's only fun with friends. (F-Zero GX proved that it's possible.)

Then there was the annoying 'Rival'. The guy that constantly takes the first or second place. This isn't a way to crank up difficulty, that's sheer laziness on the AI development. (F-Zero GX proved that it's possible)

And at the end, the fact that a cart had two racers, but neither the driver or the shooter effected the performance of the cart in the slightest. All they provided were special items. Really, a cart driven by Donkey Kong, isn't that supposed to handle differently from the same cart driven by Luigi? Well, YES, I think.

These are pretty much the things I could come up with that should be improved. And I must say, Just4Yoshi, that I don't really like the RPG idea. The pretty massive character roster should provide you with a cart that suits you. It could only be implemented in some half-assed way, like in DragonBallZ Budokai Tenkachi 2.

Hello, people! Welcome to the sequels ideas union! This is the thread where you can introduce yourself.

Allow me to start: I am Koen, from the Netherlands, known as Majura on Gamespot. Nintendo fanboy for life, and I also like Sonic the Hedgehog. A wannabe manga artist, starting otaku, and not well known for writing rants that make sense . Basically, this is all you need to know for now. Have fun with making up astonishing sequels, and perhaps we will have some developpers listening.

Adios, au revoir, goodbye and tot ziens. See you soon on the sequels ideas union!

A friend of mine was at E3, and had his hands (or feet) at Wiifit. He said he was moreso impressed by the Wii balance board then the game itself. This gives great potentional for cool games!

I am able to enjoy light-hearted games. I see the potential the Wii balance board has with 'real' games. I liked to see release dates. But when hearing all that stuff about 'Nintendo is for everyone' and 'everyone is a gamer', during the whole conference, I felt like shouting: WHAT ABOUT US?? I wanted more new game announcments.

Square-Enix seems the DS quite a lot. Off course, that's where the money is right now, so it would be stupid not to jump in. But we haven't had much support from them for the Wii.
