I fail to see absolutely any reason why i should have any additional respect for soldiers, law enforcement, firemen, or other public servents over any other person.

Because their work is dangerous: And they are compensated with that danger by a paycheck. The danger is commesurate with their pay. Most people think thye are underpaid. Most people think they themselves are under paid. In nearly all cases, people are paid what they deserve based on their demand and skillsets. All of those careers have low entry barriers, therefore, many people can do those tasks. Theres demand, but a large pool of available people, so they can afford to pay less. Want a better job? Get a skillset less people can do.

Because they protect you: Yep. Thats their job. I pay them to do that, just like i pay a company to have a customer service representative answer my questions when i need them to. I pay for that. I'm no more grateful to a police officer than i am to a customer service representative. In the case of the miliarty, they go and fight wars politicians tell them to instead of wars i agree they should be fighting.

Because they put their life on the line: Yep. Thats what they signed up for. I have far more sympathy for a mailroom clerk that dies on the job than a police officer in a shoot out. Its part of the job. They knew what they were getting into and the potential risks. The mailroom clerk has a reasonable expectation not to die at their workplace.

Because they are heroes, patriotic, performing their civil duty, etc: No, they arent. The majority of people that enter any of these positions do not do so out of ideals. They do it because they get paid and its a stable job. Interesting fact: The US Army consistently fails to make recruiting quotas every year - except during times of deep recessions. Most join because they need a job. Very few join out of ideals. I'd argue that most of the recruits in the miliary are little more than man-children that dont know what they want to do in life and needed a job or more time to figure out what they want, so they went into the military.

I also refuse to buy an Xbox 360. I still feel very uneasy about the hardware reliability. I don't want to pay for the online component either.Hexagon_777

Its really not that bad. Just take care of the 360 and you'll be fine. Plus, Microsoft is pretty good about getting ur console repaired fairly quickly.

That's the next step for me anyway. Gonna take it to a buddy's house tomorrow. I thought maybe it was my computer so I plugged in a different iPod and it worked just fine. I'm hoping I can get it to work on another computer so I can restore it. But in the event that I can't, does anyone know of any way to restore factory settings without being plugged into a PC?SantaTerb

Have you tried holding down the power and menu button for 15 seconds then letting go of the power button and hold the menu button for 15 more seconds? I believe that wipes out your ipod. Not sure, worth trying tho

I don't care. Practically every company jumps on whatever bandwagon Apple starts.SolidSnake35

True. But many of those said companies do a better job at. Like HTC.

Napoleon insane? Hardly he was a genius.

Hahaha, if u think Napoleon wasnt insane then u must think Hitler wasnt. Napoleon was pretty unpredictable and would crush anyone who resisted him with deadly force. Insane? No, not at all.

3. Avoid machines, USE FREE WEIGHTS! If you need help, ask around, people are friendly -RocBoys9489-

This is true. There are some machines that are good, but majority of the weight lifting machines dont do the job as quickly and as good as free weights do. If you have a smart phone download the app called Mens Health Workouts. Its $2 and it has all kinds of workouts in it. Really good app

I was talking to a good friend of mine tonight, we used to have a bit of a relationship but that is besides the point, and I don't remember how but she admitted tonight that she watches porn on occasion. It really made me feel odd. Like, it seems like a dont ask dont tell thing to me.

Thoughts?

IronBeaver

Dude, if you walked into where I work at you would think we were all gay We talk about porn with each other, sex, and we do some pretty homosexual things (in a joking way). I would say 90% of the Marine Corps acts this way. Theres nothing wrong with it man. And we have chicks in our shop so we talk about it around them and they join in too so its whatever dude.

Perhaps, but wouldnt be suprised if the governement doesnt know about aliens or even more believable is that they are trying to hide the evidence for your own safety. Imagine if the US President came on TV and said their is an alien civilization far more advanced than us in every way and may be hostile to us?

LJS9502_basic

That assumes "alien" visitors would make themselves known only to governments.

True.
