I think Sony is just moving most of it's games to downloadable format. There's a good deal of PS1 and minis available from the PS Store that they're getting a lot of revenue from it's understandable why they're less apt to make new games for the PSP. That and they're gearing up for the NGP.

I am no where by far the casual gamer but I think the video game industry is one of the largest grossing entertainment mediums in the world. That's not due to casual gaming, it's due to the fans that enjoy the experience on a big screen TV or games that require a little reading instead of the mindlessness pressing a button and matching a few colors. That being said Nintendo has had great success catering to a market of people who grew up with games but have lives and jobs who want to experience what they used to love at small intervals. But by no means is Nintendo forgetting about their true money making market. I see a game like Devil Survivor being remade and that tells us right there that they want to please their loyal fans.

Sure the internet and eShop are probably going to be used for the quick casual gameplay. Unless they do like Sony and make their console heavily online download dependant.

I would rather wait. I'm not in such a rush nor lacking in games I have to play to warrant running out and buying this the first chance I get. Does anyone remember the massive amount of problems and issues the first releases of X-Box 360 and PS3 had with hardware failure? Red ring of death is what they called it. I'd rather wait for a more stable version of the release than risk something failing. I'd also like to see how the game lineup develops over time. I'm still a bit sad that it will be download only games but it's what the market seems to be heading to.

Well it's good to know there will be two versions. I myself have never used 3G. Regular wi-fi is good enough for me. First and foremost this is a gaming machine. And that's what will matter most.

I'm actually a bit disappointed; it just seems to be lacking something to make it special; a soundtrack, a map, anything. It just feels light. Regardless; still excited about the game.Daavpuke
Agreed. A small artbook and some cards isn't going to make me want this limited edition. Also seems it's only available in the UK. America's Amazon isn't showing this limited release. I've already pre-ordered the game as I'm really interested in it. Though a bunch of people here have told me don't expect it to be as good as the original or answer any questions connecting the two. Still most limiteds get at least an artbook and a soundtrack since they're usually $10 bucks more than the regular.

There's plenty of great PSP games out there. I know for the time being the initial market so far for 2011 looks a bit slim pickings compared to the Japanese releases. Hopefully Sony will either have more developers lined up or just work on expanding the available PS1 ports in their store. Either way last year had a lot of great releases to check out.

If you want a memory stick Duo included with the PSP the get the Kingdom hearts or Metal Gear PSP 3000 bundles.

Each is $199.00and you get a 4gb memory stick duo with them. Great deal since I bought my PSP 3000 (core)without a game or memory stick included for $169.00

Well if those particular bundles come with a 4GB stick that's good. Most of the bundles I've seen come with a 1GB stick and honestly that's a waste. You're better off shelling out $20 bucks or a little more for a 4-8GB stick. Only get a bundle if you really like the game it comes with though. Some come with a UMD movie but you'd probably DL from the PSN more than you'd use the UMD so make sure you've got the memory capacity for it.

I don't see why not. If Nintendo doesn't try to tap into the 3D movie market it wouldn't be much of a waste. Although Nintendo makes gaming machines and not multimedia machines. I don't think video would influence or deter anyone from purchasing the 3DS. Nintendo has always catered to the gaming market first and foremost. Anything extra can always be added later.

I personally use my PSP as a gaming machine. My girlfriend uses hers mainly to watch videos. With such versatility available to the system, I'm curious as to how people use their PSP on the regular...deejaypsp
I use mine to play games and watch videos. During a long trip it's nice to have many options.

heres is why you should use UMD's:

  • a lot cheaper
  • save up memory
  • you get a nice art box and manual.
  • not all UMD's are available on PSN

rubedisky

Pretty much that ^

With PSN you pay Sony directly at the price they set. All the games they offer on PSN I can find for cheaper on Ebay or Amazon. And you also need an internet connection to download games. If I'm someplace without an internet connection it's going to be hard to access the PSN. And honestly for the cost of expanding memory and the game itself you probably make out cheaper if you buy UMDs.

The GO comes with a 16GB HD. When that fills up you have to buy Memory Sticks in addition to the game to download it on. UMD is ultimately more cost effective.
