Looks likes a Metroid rip off. And I don't appreciate that. They basically ripped off Nintendo's hard work. These guys don't deserve any credit what so ever as they lack originality. This is another game I will be skipping over.ooooorgle
Translation: I don't own a 360. I hold Super Metroid, in the highest of regards, and I absolutely love Shadow Complex. So every sidescrolling shooter is going to be shamelessly stealing from Metroid? You act like the main character turns into a ball and rolls around...

Play co-op instead of competitive. My girlfriend LOVED Zach and Wiki, Resident Evil UC, and World of Goo. Puzzle games are fun because no matter who's playing it, you can both brainstorm solutions. My biggest issue, is my girlfriend is she's clumsy with menus and even in the game sometimes. I have to resist the urge to snatch the controller out of her hands and do it for her. As much as I think that helps her it doesn't, she has to learn just like we all did. Also you have to realize she's coming into your element, so naturally you are the "pro" and she's a "noob" just try and be patient with her and show her what gaming is all about without showing off. Eventually instead of calling you names, she will just ask "How did you do that?" Don't try and push though. My girlfriend has a weak attention span for some really good games, yet she can play Sodoku for like 3 hours. Best of luck, you're going to need it!

I can't take it seriously if you're slapping the game with an "8.2 rating" before you even finish it. You might as well judge a book by it's cover. Lower your expectations of "Greatest game ever" - finish the game, then make a fair assumption. It's like saying the whole game sucks because you played the demo...Doesn't seem like you want to like the game anyway. I was the same way with MGS4...found every little thing I could nitpick about it. Try not to let the boasting about a game ruin your experience with it. With the amount of hype FF7 has gotten over the years, no game could ever live up to that.

All this is pointless as I found Shadow Complex had a solid story. Certainly not awe inspiring like some RPGs, but as solid as some shooters out there.mythrol

At the very least the plot is well presented, even if very cliched. Speaking of cliche, this isatleast thethird game Nolan North has voiced the same character with a diffrent name in the space of 3 years (The others being PoP and Uncharted). Atleast he's good at it though.

It's based on a book sooooooo. . .

Exactly, Orson Scott Card's - Empire. So there is a story, they just limit how much they break up the pacing to tell it. Which is a good thing in my opinion. The gameplay is what's golden about this game, and it's meant to be played through many many times. I don't want to be constantly running into cutscenes, this is just not the type of game for that.

[QUOTE="Crossel777"][QUOTE="wayne_kar"] well said. the importance of a story is way to overstated these days if you ask me. movie's and books are for stories, games are to be PLAYED.

mythrol

False. People have been playing games for the storyline for years now. Don't tell me it isnt important. Far as I'm concerned a good story can save any game from mediocrity.

All this is pointless as I found Shadow Complex had a solid story. Certainly not awe inspiring like some RPGs, but as solid as some shooters out there.

If your expectations are - story like Bioshock and gameplay like Super Metroid, you wont be buying ANY games this year. Good luck with that. For 15$ Shadow Complex is quite an accomplishment.

I would have paid 60$ with a smile. Give the game it's due, it definitely earned it. It set the bar so high, any XBLA dev is sick to their stomach right now.

They like to rip on hyped games, and give junk games high scores...I could tell you a million GI scores that make zero sense. Either way, reviews don't mean anything. It's one persons take on the game. Considering the lowest i've seen it rated was an 8.0 so far...I'd say they are in the minority.

*NOOB* - What's rubberband AI? :P

Thing I hate'd be escorting missions, they're just annoying...

Rubberband AI is where the computer tries to adapt based on how well you are doing. So you could be blowing them out at first but they catch up. It also works vice versa where they can be destroying you and allow you to catch up, but more often than not it's the CPU doing ridicolous things to catch back up. In NBA Jam the computer could close a 20 point gap, none of your shots would go in, yet they are sinking half court 3 pointers. Mostly in older sports games, and racing games. Midnight Club had rubber band AI.

Shadow Complex. It's not even close.
