Insert Hiren's Boot CD? Or boot from a recovery CD?
@jun_aka_pekto I never got to that point. Windows started going catywhompass before I could

Okay, I've done a bit of tweaking to the recommended spec by PredatorRules, and came up with this:
Case: CoolerMaster Elite 430 Mid-Tower Gaming Case with Side Panel Window
Extra Case Fan Upgrade: Maximum Case Cooling Fans for your selected case
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.00 GHz Eight-Core AM3+ CPU 8MB L2 Cache & Turbo Core Technology *** Overclocking S&S **
Cooling Fan: Cooler Master Seidon 120M Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator (Cooler Master Seidon 120M Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator)
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 V2 AMD 970 Chipset, ATX mainboard w/ 4 RAM slots, 7.1 Audio, GbLAN, USB3.0, SATA-III, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 2 PCIe X1, & 2 PCI ***Overclockable S&S ***
Memory: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3/1600mhz Dual Channel Memory (Kingston HyperX Blu w/Heat Spreader)
Video Card: AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB 16X PCIe Video Card (Major Brand Powered by AMD)
Power Supply Upgrade: 600 Watts Power Supplies ( CoolerMaster G600 G-Series Bronze Gaming Power Supply, SLI / Crossfire ready)
Hard Drive: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s Cache 7200RPM Hard Drive (Single Hard Drive)
Optical Drive: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE. (BLACK Colour)

That all comes to £697 ex. VAT.
My question now is what would be the best OS to go with this system? Should I stick with Windows 7, or bite the bullet and go with Windows 8.1? Which OS would take best advantage of Mantle in future?
That's a good question. I've been using Windows 7, but I keep hearing that Windows 8.1 offers a surprisingly significant increase in performance.
If I may make a suggestion, you might want to consider a PSU with 650 watts or more, in case you decide to get another R9 280X. 600 should be perfectly fine, and probably more than enough, but better safe than sorry :)And if you do choose another one, you might want to choose a modular or semi-modular one. Much better for cable management (doesn't bother some people, but personally I'm a huge stickler, and can't handle a cluttered case)

So I was trying to uninstall Ubuntu, and put the partition back into my C drive, because I've been desperately low on space. One of the guides I read, said that instead of using a recovery disk to access the command prompt in the system restore, I could use Hiren's Boot CD. To test this, I booted from the CD, and in the CD options, chose to boot my Windows OS. As soon as I logged on, I was met with a black screen, with a message in the bottom right corner saying "Windows 7, Build 7600, This copy of Windows is not genuine." So I tried to do a recovery, but it told me I couldn't because I didn't have space on my C drive (which is why I was trying to uninstall Ubuntu in the first place). Booted into Ubuntu, deleted a couple of things (none of which would have messed with Windows). Tried to boot into Windows and was met with ridiculously long load times into safe mode, recovery mode, and normal, all of which froze. Now it won't even get past BIOS.
I have a friend who thinks it's a virus, but I have no idea, and no clue what to do if it is a virus, because I can't get into my OS to run anything.
HELP!!!
@mastershake575: Slightly better is still better. As long as I can achieve an FPS that is consistent, stable, and above 30 FPS, I'll be happy
PC version is of course better but im not sure it will run that well
The GT 630 is almost identical to a 9600GT/GS which was a midrange card almost 6 years ago........ (your below low-end with your current video card unfortunately).
Game should run better than the 360 but its not going to be by a ton (majority of the setting on low with the resolution set low isn't going to look that great).
They're very similar, yes, but my 630 has 32 more Cuda cores (no idea what those are though) and 2 gigs of VRAM. I've also OCed it to above the clocks on the 9600, but I haven't pushed very much, so it can go even further.
That being said, yeah, graphics/performance are my worst fear. I'll definitely be running at 1024x786, but that's what BF3 is running at, and I'm perfectly fine with it. As for the other settings, if they look better than 360, I'll be happy, and even more impressed by this low end card
@PredatorRules: I'm not even going for 60 FPS. I'm fine with 30, as long as it is a consistent and stable 30.
Also, @James161324, as glitchy and ill-prepared as BF4 is, there are 64 reasons why the PC version is better than console
With my specs, do you guys think it'd be worth it to trade in my 360 copy of BF4 for a PC copy?
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
NVIDIA GT 630 2GB, (I've overclocked it a bit, but haven't pushed it yet)
6 gigs RAM
I'm able to run BF3 on medium settings with Ultra textures, and gameplay I've looked at for my GPU looks like I'd be able to run it on Med settings, low on some things.
