So i just talked to Dell Customer Service and they just told me that my pc model's PSU can't be upgraded to a higher supply. Any suggestions or he's just bsing me.

But i think thats total BS, any idea how to check the power supply i'll buy will fit in my tower?

mcginnis.. let me level with you 90% of the time dell tells you something let it enter 1 ear and go out the other. im serious here. unless they tell you something ig going to burn your house down or kill you. their probably lying just to make you buy products made by dell

I totally agree with you here. Another friend of mine told me the same thing. I'm just going to measure my psu and then buy it from newegg or tigerdirect.

well if you want to go lower than get an hd 6790 again solid preformer

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2330434&CatId=28

i also lopped 20 bucks off your price tag.

basically the 6790 is a low power hd 4890 with like 90% better driver support (amd horribly supported the hd 4890)

What about this Card:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=41125&Sku=E145-0550

Along with this PSU:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276567&Sku=ULT-LSP750

I kinda went to Can yourunit.com and it was recommended to me byt the site.

any card south of the gtx 460/560 SE made by nvidia isnt worth buying. amd have basically total domination of that price/preformance bracket.

Okay, so i got this card,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2157532&sku=V261-7770but the PSU is the same. I mean this kinda fits into my budget.

Okay, cool. So that takes care of the gpu, so now onto the psu, what should I be looking for when I buy it?

PfizersaurusRex

I should have said, the 7770 is if you dont want to replace the PSU.

If you can replace it, many more options are available,

PSU is easy,

1. Look for a good brand, Antec, Corsair, Coolermaster, Thermaltake

2. Make sure its 550 or 600 watt.

3. Install it.

7770 on a 350W PSU? I wouldn't do that. Get a proper PSU and you'll have no worries. As for the graphics card, GTX 460/560 (1GB, non SE) or HD 6850/6870 is what you should be looking at.

Okay, so i got the card and i am looking for the PSU but the one thing that is making me a bit nervous is that how do i know that the card that i am going to buy will fit on my motherboard?

A decent 550watt but look at the AMD 7770

GTR12

But would that create any problems with my PC? since I've been using NVIDIA from past 2 years.

No lol, you just need to uninstall the drivers.

What's your budget? You will need a new power supply if you want to get a half decent GPU.

GTR12

About $200, I mean I can buy a decent psu and after that the GPU with a gap between them so as not to put too much strain on my budget. How much watt you recommend.

SO Ive been thinking that I kinda need to change my video card since most of the games i have are having trouble with my Nvidia GT220. And i was also thinking of buying the Starcraft and my card barely covers the minimum system requirement so I was wondering that what card should I buy. I have a Dell XPS 8100 with Intel i5 @ 3.2Ghz with 8GB RAM and my PSU is 350Watt. besides that i don't know anything else. So any help would be greatly appreciated since i am not really hardware proficient. I mean i do like to research a lot but never tried installiung something major.
