I may be misinterpreting the quote but if everyone's motto was to drink and be content not a lot would get done and most people wouldn't be very proactive. Omar obviously had some other ideas about life that drove him towards his success, I'm guess that would be something he'd say while making merriment with that lady or while out with his friends but not as a meaning of life.

Actually my left eye doesn't have full range of motion, so if I try to glance to the left I end up looking kind of cross eyed since my left eye stays relativity fixed forward. It's a really dumb disorder to have since I have to constantly be conscious not to glance to the left in fear of looking dumb. It gets worse when people approach me from the left side I either have to 1. Avoid eye contact 2. turn my head fast or 3. spin all the way around from the right. Overall I don't think anyone actually knows what the problem is, although it does create some awkward situations.

I actually do think the story is weird and cool, and that we need more stuff like this in OT :) To actually contribute to the topic, it seems like a very unfortunate mix up due to drastic cultural differences.
