My laptop has a GTX260M, P8700 (OC 2.89GHZ), and 6G of RAM, EDIT also 17.3" screen. It cost me $1,200. Without having to separetly buy windows, I can play Crysis with a mix of high and very high settings, and Fallout 3 maxed. Now find a mac for the same price that can do even close to this.

I'm pretty sure it will perform better than the 8800 GTS.

First off, the GTX260M has a stock clock of 550MHz, which is slower than the reference 600MHz found on the 9800GT, which is slower than the reference 650MHz found on the 8800GTS 512.
Secondly, they're all based on the G92 architecture, have roughly the same shader clock speeds (the GTX260M being the slowest 1375MHz versus the 1500MHz found on the 9800GT) and roughly the same memory speed and bandwidth.
Considering the GTX280M has been shown to perform similarly to the 8800GTS 512, I find it hard to believe that the GTX260M will perform better than it.
I demand to see a source. And I've seen videos of people playing crysis on high-max on a GTX260M with nice framerates.
[QUOTE="MetalHead427"]Bump it up! Final call, might get it tomorrow, C2Q vs C2DMaoTheChimp
The C2Q has a pretty slow clock speed (2.0GHz). TBH, I'm actually leaning towards the dual core, but it's a hard decision considering the rising amount of multithreaded games coming on the market.
I might just end up rolling with the C2D. You can overclock it with a program they give you (proven to work) to 2.9 Ghz. I don't think it will have a problem.
Just a heads up, the GTX260M is a rebadged G92 video card sporting 112 SPU's; it actually performs worse than an 8800 GTS 512MB. Don't expect stellar performance on Crysis with it.

Therefore, it is not similar to the Desktop GTX 260 but somewhat similar to the 9800 GT.

Dude your looking at the same two i was looking at. Im just sucking it up and going for the quad. Only 100 more, and frankly thats just a few more hours at work for me.. so i dont really mind.DvlsWrshipMe
Dang man, I'm leaning towards the C2D more now. Price isn't really an issue for me, no interest for 18 months is nice, but I feel like the C2D might outperform the C2Q. I'm just mad that it was given a crappy 5400 RPM hard drive. Oh, and if you don't know, they posted the wrong thing under sound, it actually has the Creative Audigy sound card.
get the c2d model it is actually better look http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

Yeah, I saw that before. I just can't stand the idea that the C2D one has a 5400 RPM harddrive.
depending on which game you the c2d will do better and vice versa like games like gta 4 and supreme commander will do better on a quad[QUOTE="MetalHead427"]
Dang, it's like 50-50 on which one people are recommending. You are the second one to bring up the cache though. The C2Q one also has all of the goodies, not skimping on HDD or memory. Do you think there would be an FPS drop from the C2Q over the C2D?

Well, my first games in mind are Fallout 3 and Crysis...
