Dont be silly, macbook pros like most laptops get ridiculously hot, it would probably overheat. Also remember that macbook pro screens are lower resolution than gaming monitors i think the starting 15" is 1440x900lostrib

Yep its 1440x900p, so i'll be able to run the game fine, the lower res helps, plus it still looks great.

There is still the heat issue and the fact that for 2500k a custom gaming rig could run it far better.

When i played the BF3 Beta, my MBP 15" didnt over heat. The the Mobile i7 quads in the MBP, 15" are about as good as the desktop 2500k.

When intel ivy bridge macbooks hit next year, their in built gpus will be able to run games, so i can buy the cheaper 15" MBP.

Showing what you know about hardware. Anywhoo $300 on an upgrade and $1000 on an apple logo

The lower end MBP 15" is $2k, i'll save the $200, thanks to ivy bridges in built gpu, i wont need a dedicated gpu to run games.

It was $2.5k. But its worth it, hell Windows even runs better on a mac, when i boot it up to run games, it runs smooth and fluid. Plus macs have a good resale value, i'll be able to sell it when the next MBP comes out for nearly what i paid for it, you cant do that with a custom built pc.

So in actuality, it would be you spending around $3K for a Mac every few months?

I spent $2.5k for my MBP this year, when i sell it next year, i'll get around $2.2k for it. I spend $300 on an upgrade. When intel ivy bridge macbooks hit next year, their in built gpus will be able to run games, so i can buy the cheaper 15" MBP.

I want you to try BF3 on that.

mitu123

I have, i get 60fps on medium.

That was the beta, wait for the full version.

The full version will most likely run better, so i could even run it on high at maybe 30-40 fps, which will be good imo.
PC specs for one of this years it games, MW3.

http://www.bluesnews.com/s/126784/modern-warfare-3-pc-details-minimum-specs

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
OS: Windows® XP / Windows Vista® / Windows® 7
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X38750 processor or better
Memory: 16 GB free hard drive space / 2GB RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256 MB NVIDIA®GeForce™ 8600GT / ATI® Radeon™ X1950 or better
Sound Card: DirectX® 9.0C or later

This is what i dont get about PC gamers, you overkill on hardware, wasting tons of money, when you could spend less, or even buy an iMac or Macbook Pro, and install windows so you can play games, and whenever your not playing games, run OSX.
All these past PC games haven't been nothing to wow at either.

DarkGamer007

I could build a gaming computer that could max Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 for probably half the price of an iMac that could barely run either of them.

But you wont have OSX.[/QUOTE

So you mean not only would I have a cheaper computer, but I would also have an operating system that would allow me to play the most recent games like Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Batman Arkham City? Windows computers are far cheaper than any Mac computer, no matter how you slice it you would spend far more for a Mac that has similar or even worse specifications.

Windows are cheaper because of microsofts monopoly. OpenGL has been proven to run better than directx look at games like RAGE and console games, they're accelerated by opengl. If a game was made for mac and coded for opengl 4, it will look better than directx.

I have 2 Quard core @ 2.40ghz. Also weaksauce. Most of the PC gamers here have 3-3.5Ghz and up

The i7's are a better architecture than the Core 2 quads, even if its clocked low it will still run better. The quads in the MBP will run the game fine, maybe not maxed out, but good enough, seeing as how ill still have OSX for my DJ work.
