The patches broke more than they fixed, the latest patch introduced horrendous graphical bugs. I would say on your machine you should just about get "console quality" settings on GTA 4. By that I mean low/medium settings running on 1280 x 720 @ 30fps. You should be able to play GTA 4 fine on the PC but expect console quality graphics along with all the bugs that Rockstar can't seem to eradicate after 5 patches and a years work.

too bad, I'd have saved some nice euros. well thanks I'll get it for the console then. performance > graphics for me thanks to you all

I can't decide, the game looks better on Pc ( obviously ) but I can't judge how it performs on Pc.

I'd be able to run it at medium settings.

so pc or 360 be it?

thanks

This gen I decided to switch to console gaming, mainly because of the HD, because of the games and because I didn't wanna spend lots of money on upgrading my Pc. So I bought an xbox 360 and also a ps2, this latter to play the games I had missed out on last gen.

So, I've been using my pc mainly for work and to play some managerial and adventure games, because the console could deliver what I needed at a very cheap price, letting me play for many years without thinking about upgrading the hardware.

Of course there are cons, like you will always get worse graphics and often worse performance than powerful but also nowadays-average Pc's.

But aside from the mouse + keyboard support and the tweaking with the game settings, I think consoles do it just right for those who just want to play games without nitpicking graphical aspects, framerates and such.

What's your thoughts? are you happy with consoles/Pc gaming and why you prefer one system over the other one?

[QUOTE="ZIMdoom"]

And how many games on the PC have slowdown, tearing, pop-in, crash, driver issues, etc, etc, etc.? I'd argue the percentage is the same. I would also argue that the not-as-huge PC games have the same issues of developers not providing timely patches, if they do at all. So to say this is a console problem is just flat out lying. And to argue that this is some sort of sign of consoles not showing improved graphics through their lifespan is just delusional.

p.s. I have AC2 and I haven't noticed any issues. So I don't know where you get this "broken game" crap from.

ZIMdoom

AC2 on the Ps3 does suffer from tearing and frame skipping! on the xbox 360 it looks almost acceptable.

I'm building myself a Pc gaming because I got tired of playing those full-of-flaws games, and according to the guys on the Pc section, here on SW, multiplats perform much better on Pc, provided that you got a decent rig of course. and I don't think that all of them are lying just to support Pc over consoles.

Instead I guess you don't wanna admit that many games on the consoles have a sucky performance!

If it does, I haven't ever noticed it...so the game couldn't be so horrible as to be considered "broken." Sounds like nitpicking to me. And anyone can nitpick any game...that includes on PC.

I'm not saying the hermits are lying, I'm sure they believe what they are saying 110%...but that doesn't make it fact. This is SW after all and the hermits are just as big of fanboys as anyone else here.

Pc games do have flaws and you're always installing patch and whatsoever, but usually games do run smoother than on the consoles. if you can get 40-50 stable fps is much better than playing at 24-30 fps. But tearing and low framerate are very common probs nowadays, you often hear "soon a patch will be released to fix that problem" and those problems do affect negatively your gaming experience. So it'd be nice if developers spent some more time testing and optimizing their games, instead of using gamers as their "testers" Look at GTAIV for Pc, it was a very bad port, but with some patches, now it looks and runs better than on the consoles. I mean, even at medium settings the Pc looks far better than the consoles. So staying on topic, I'd also take any day of the week performance over graphics.
