[QUOTE="MiiOnWii"][QUOTE="knicknut17"]Expect the PS3 to be strong and last for AT LEAST another 5 years.
First off, developers are beginning to finally optimize code for the hardware. Multiplatform games are equal to their Xbox 360 counterparts (GTA4) and PS3 exclusives (MGS4, Uncharted, and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue) simply blow the competition away. An Arcade model of the Xbox 360 simply would not be able to handle a game like Metal Gear Solid 4.
Blu-Ray has won the format war. First, Uncharted showed us the advantages of Blu-Ray with its beautiful environments and high resolution backdrops. It showed us a living breathing world where if Nathan Drake went into the water, it would show up on his clothes before drying off. That was 25 GB single layer Blu-Ray disk. Now...June 2008 and Metal Gear Solid 4 brings us a compelling interactive movie running in native 1080p with 7.1 uncompressed Dolby True HD sound. This game is a dual layer, 50 GB Blu-Ray disk. The guys at Kojima Productions have raised the bar with respect to technical benchmarks in video games. The only hardware that can give you the horsepower and storage to run a game like that is the PS3. Expect the G-A-P (technically) between PS3 exclusives and their rivals to get wider and wider in the next couple of years.
HD is finally becoming mainstream and the PS3 is an excellent compliment to an HDTV. Its built-in Blu-Ray player, expandable hard drive, HDMI 1.3 profile, free online service, built-in Wi-Fi, and reputation of having the finest and most advanced video gaming library makes it a winner.
Metal Gear Solid 4 marks a new era in the future of the PS3. This game shows off the power and advantages of the hardware to tell an epic tale of a legendary character's final mission. Many exclusive franchises have yet to see their iteration on current generation hardware (Final Fantasy, God of War, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, SOCOM, Killzone). The exclusives are coming.
PS3 has a promising long term future. Microsoft is going to need to upgrade their hardware in the next 2-3 years to keep up. I expect the PS3 to have AT LEAST another 5 AAA solid years left in it after this one. The PS3 is built off of a super computer chip with some ridiculously advanced hardware. Consumers have a long way to catch up. Many are getting into HDTV for the first time. The step from DVD to Blu-Ray has not been made mainstream yet. It will become mainstream one day, but that will take time and price drops. The PS3 is in prime position to cater to this market for the long term.

I thought resident evil was coming to the 360 also? and as far as the price drop on blu-ray players and specifically the ps3, there isn't cause sony is losing BIG money manufacturing the ps3 at a high cost and selling it cheaper...what's holding blu-ray back, the high prices and how DVDs are way more convenient to the consumers than blu-ray is.(Most laptops do not have blu-ray players, no portable blu-ray players) and not alot of people do not have an hdtv...the way the economy is going, it is going to be hard to push a new format like blu-ray which is more expensive to make and sell..
do u live in 2007...manufacturing costs for ps3 is down and they actually make money on each one sold now...also hdtv is actually becoming pretty universal now with prices lowering at how much they are.Sure, it will take a little while for the format to be in everyhousehold but it eventually will happen once massproduction is more widespread and prices go down...just like with everything else2007? i didn't know that sony was making money on the ps3 even though their company lost 2 billion dollars in 07 and about 1.5 billion dolllars in 08...lol
If you look at microsoft they have stopped pumping out content! they are already working on a new xbox. Sony made a consol that was made to last! I think it will do very well in the future!!!! But i have been wrong before!!!!EMAN782
yes i agree sony is catching up with others feature wise, but like many people talking about all the new games coming to the ps3, did u guys forget that microsoft has many games coming out too..microsoft was smart to push out the 360 a year before the ps3,( they learned from the ps2) no matter how much extra neat features the ps3 has (blu-ray,7.1 surround sound) it's gonna be all about the games and soo far sony has not yet delivered...o yeh, and 3.3 billion dollars is alot of money too make up....
[QUOTE="GhostOfSparta21"]we are talking not talking premium edition... arcade :o i know. BUT I HAVE NO MONEY! I AM NOT A RICH KID.Chaos_BladezThen you are gonna fill up your memory card and buy a harddrive which is an extra $70. Then Live, which is $50 a month. Buy the 40 gig if you wanna save. Try to get the 80 gig. You get a lot of stuff in that bundle. MGS4, 80 PS3, Dualshock 3, free online, free PSN game. Great deal. Seeing how you like God Of War, you are only gonna see that on the PS3. If you aren't impatient, you will be better off. If you just get the cheaper console now, you might regret it later.
holy crap, i didn't know xbl was $50 a month?? the ps3 is a better value out of the box because of the free online...it doesn't sound like you're going to use the ps3 as a blu-ray player since you are already complaining that the ps3 is expensive and most blu-ray disc cost $20to $35...i mean xbl is gonna cost you around $ 4.00 a month and the extra hard drive is gonna cost about$ 80...so i say if you can wait longer and save a little more money get the ps3, but if you must have one now the 360 is not a bad choice either...
Get one its worth it. Once Home comes out it will be like xbox live or better. Also i think you get the dualshock 3 controller with the new 80gbNowak94
yes you should buy a ps3, i own both a 360 and a ps3, there are games on the ps3 you must get like mgs4 and resistance, that and the blu-ray player is the biggest reason why i bought one. although i personally like online on live having free online on ps3 is not bad at all. the biggest thing that makes me mad about the online for ps3 is no in-game messaging with friends and online features are not convenient as xbox live. hopefully it will change!!!
