It's a MMORPG/FPS set in the aftermath of a world infested by a great plague. The outbreak turns its victims into semi-smart creatures who feed off other humans. The world is in tatters and the remaining humans left alive are forced to fend for themselves and try to stay alive.

The game would have 4-5 different factions (Anarchists who value free will, God's Fist who obey the bible and live to vanquish the Infected, Technologs who believe technology will save the planet, Riders who roam far and wide exploring and looking for a cure, and the Black who hate all other factions and look to find ways to harness the power of the Infested to use it to control the world.) per server and would basically start you off in a friendly zombie-free stronghold in the middle of a war torn earth. From these strongholds you get quests, barter goods, hang out and store items. But once you leave the outer walls, you enter the battlefield. North America and Europe would be the main playable zones, each with faction strongholds throughout the territories.

The game would be 1/4 PVE and the rest PVP. Quests would be simple gather quests (gathering artifacts, medical supplies, etc.), assassination quests (both PVP and PVE with a full working bounty system), and explore/scouting quests. (The quest section could really be anything, the possibilities are endless.)

The game would be a RPG in the sense that you would be leveling your character to follow a certain path (Sniper, Demolitionist, Stealther, Scout/Survivalist, Engineer, Scientist) and doing quests. The game however would play like a FPS (think STALKER). Leveling up however, would only let you specialize in one path, and slightly upgrade your character's power/stats, but in the game even a well placed shot from a newbie versus a hardcore veteran could be fatal. This would give the game a sense of danger.

Outside of the strongholds would be pure chaos. Cities in ruins, towns burning, freeways looking like graveyards with cars as the tombstones. Gangs of the Infested would roam the cities, hunting for food; always hostile. Enemy faction squads trying to complete the same quests as you, or just looking for loot.

The game would play like STALKER, where it's extremely dangerous and survival is a neccessity. The possibilites for PVP would be amazing. There could be certain capturable objectives/strongholds that grant benefits to the owners, which would open up room for guilds fighting other guilds, and large scale battles. The bounty system could prevent people from ganking too much, but outside of that, if you can't fight your own battles, play another game. The game would be harsh; if you die outside people can loot your corpses. So if you roll out by yourself, you better be very crafty and stealthy, or you could go out in groups for added survivability.

There could be vehicles (air, ground and water) with mounted weapons, treaties or declarations of war between guilds, dangerous PVE encounters that are fast and fun, arenas for proving your prowess, gambling and kidnapping..

Welp that's my dream game.

I've thought through this a million times and it bores me. We probably will get to the virtual reality stage eventually, but maybe only late in the lifetimes of everyone in this forum. In any case, if it happens it would likely prove an ideal training ground since it could replicate different situations incombat.deepdreamer256

Well sorry Mr. Creative. But ya, I don't think it needs to be VR. In a few years video games will look like real life, and who cares if it's done withe a mouse and keyboard, it's the knowledge you gain.

What's with kids these days? All they want to do is fight, steal, cheat, have sex and do things that feel good... oh wait... this has been going on forever.

I think it is for the best interest of this country to have well-trained soldiers. yian

Ya, if ww3 actually does happen and we need to fight for our lives, then we would be better off.

Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

I read 90% of book 1 a year ago and never finished it, but I just got the box set and am gonna read it all. I love it so far, just got onto book 2.

King takes a while to say something, but I really like his way-out-there imagination.

It's not realistic to train for hand-to-hand combat with a video game, but as far as controlling long range devices, like drones, it makes sense. Also, there's a lot to be said for just learning about strategy and tactics, and how to make the right decisions about acceptable losses or collateral damage.CheddarLimbo

Exactly. I'm not saying the fighting would prepare kids on what to expect in a real battlefield. I'm talking about weaponry, vehicles, maps, strategies..
