According to the latest data from Famitsu publisher Enterbrain (as cited by Reuters), in the first half of the current fiscal year (the April-September period) Nintendo's Wii has easily outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan. Enterbrain's data shows that 1.6 million units of the Wii were sold over 26 weeks through September 23, compared to just 385,492 units of the PS3.
Nintendo's meteoric rise in Japan has allowed the company's stock to become the second most valuable in the country, right behind auto maker Toyota. The Wii continues to sell out and it's expected to once again be short on supply in North America this holiday season.
