[QUOTE="squallff8_fan"][QUOTE="dapmediainc"] I'm President and CEO of a successful web advertising company. If I gave everything away for FREE, I'll be broke and my company won't be able to expand or grow. So, from a business stand point, MS is doing the right thing.

That is just BS man and u know it. I own a ps3 and an xbox 360 and I would understand something like this coming from MS if xbox live was free, but we pay for this, and I think maps and stuff like that should be free since we already pay for our online benefits.
As for the ps3 I would understand if devs wanted to charge us 5 bux for a map pack then I would understand since we aint paying to play online on there servers, it only makes more sense, but in MS is case, we shouldnt have to pay crap for the new maps since we already pay them for xbox live gold, dat should be there way of showing us consumers there appreciation of buying the games on there console and paying for there xbox live gold services. MS is just milking us consumers and u all know it, but fanboys will always come to the rescue.
Microsoft is a well establish company and many people believe that since you are on top, you need to give back to your consumers. Well, I believe that is right. MS has provided and has given back that to us. Look at all the different innovations MS has brought us. MS has showed young entrepreneur like me a great business model, a plan for the future and it looks very promising.
Bill & Melinda Gates, I believe has donated more money than Sony and Nintendo combine. People have all every right to bash, Rant and rave about their likes and dislikes. No one is forcing you to buy the maps, it your choice. Hell, I brought a GPS system for my wife car and notice that when there a new map out, I have to pay $79.00 everything. $79.00, I think it's a little excessive coming from a consumer stand point. But looking at it from a business stand point, It's the right thing to do. That money will have to pay for that developing time, Utility usage, payroll ect.
It's very hard to juggle the fine line between the consumer and business practices. I can see why every might be upset that one company wants to charge a fee when the other don't. Well as a consumer, I side with you, but as a business owner, that's where I stand on the other side.
PS. I have not paid for any Gears Of War maps, It's been all free.

you do know that the windows is a flawed system and a pretty bad one when compared to what mac osx has to offer, not to mention the linux alternative wich is free and has an open source code, microsoft take advantage of their consumers and do this very often. again this topic is about ms charging for maps on gears of wars, maps that bungie was going to give away free of charge because they tought that they already had milked enough money from their user base and wanted to give something back to its consumer, but microsoft for some reason coudnt allow that to happen. sorry man but this is a gaming forum not a buisness, having to pay for a gaming map its nothing compared to upgrading a gps, its not vital and not as expensive to be developed. theres no reason these maps should be charged considering that theres already a monthly fee atached to the online service that should be used to pay such services as new content for its subscribers.
