EB Games Holiday Sales

Yes it's shopping time,

EB Games has again started it's stock clearance and holiday specials.  Which I always welcome with lots of credit ;)

The main Ausie sale atm is the 2 or more for $25 each on labeled/selected items.  And the release of several new titles like LOTR Online and LifeTime Subscriptions for Pre-Order make it very enticing.

So after taking up both these offers, all I have left to do is find time to play them and have a RL. :P

Bye Bye Now.

New Computer on the Block

Hello again,

Well a new computer has joined my home network and is loaded with the latest version of Vista Home Premium.

So far it has been rather in-tollerant of some older programs but everything designed for Vista seems to work well enough.  I have yet to venture deeper into the file system, but it seems very stable and shiny with lots of "fail-safe" features which is nice.

Now all we need is Symantec Ghost version 11 and people can start backing up their computers properly.

The hardware was also impressive with extra memory and all new technologies, makes things a lot easier for upgrades and general use or troubleshooting.

Well enough on this new beast will update the subject later.

Cheers.

The Horizon of Vista

Time to buy a new computer, Windows Vista is out and at last main stream.

With that in mind the easiest move is to buy a new Desktop/Laptop with 64-bit technology and a lot of ram.  But what about the server, is Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 all we have to connect it to?

What about the software to run on the OS? most of the software will still be running in 32-bit at the most.  Compatibility seems to be ok however, so at least it's a worthwhile upgrade for new computers, and newish PCs.

Peace Out :P

~The Ultimate Revelation~

Yes the third patch to Revelations has been deployed and we are preparing for the 1.4 upgrade to the COSMOS.

Planets are sticking out as having life on them already, and all around graphics are improving thanks to the maths and programming skills of the CCP COSMOS team.

Slavaging is a big hit along with the return of BluePrint seeding and lotto is also a huge benifit to 0.0 frontier fleets and pilots wealth and health.

1.4 will bring about further changes closing in on "actual animated 3D pilots" which is a MAJOR change to EvE-Online.

Also Alliance grouping and features are also being finalised and allowing for many strategic and unified pushes from various major political groups in EvE including ASCN, STAIN and various groups in the Curse Region.

The recent tornament has also resulted in a lot of great publicity, CCP is definitly looking at a head-to-head battle with Blizzard for supremacy of MMORPG gaming subscriptions.

Enough of that, back to my spaceship. Rodger Wilco!

My Cat is Burning!

For those of you living on Mars with ear plugs locked in padded rooms, The Burning Crusade expansion for WoW has been released.

Other then the initial release dramas that most users in Australia experienced relating to "OMG my CD-ROM is damaged /not-working!" many thousands of people logged in and converged on the DARK PORTAL *ooow ---- ahhhh*.

The expansion has caused many ripples on the server and mod front for developers and users to upgrade their location and LUAs.  And also to download some heafty patches or the entire expansion if you are still having problems with your CD-ROMs.

In-Game updates have resulted in many resources becomming scares or available once again for the ecconomy, also many new items are being dropped by mobs to support the jewel crafting profession.

Well more later, I have to go put out my cat.

GameSpot Upgrades

It's been a while since I added to this blog, GameSpot appears to have had some aesthetics and server-side changed.

First thing I have noticed is that I can use most of the features this time around, last time I couldn't use cirtain database linked features.

My icons have disappeared, and I am wondering what is going on there?

Unions area is working again now, so have rejoined with some of them too.  Will be checking TV.com to see if it has the same stupid problems but on grand scale.

I really do hope it is fixed now.

GuildWars Revisited

Well I have been working my way through Guild Wars for a while now and there are more facets to the game which seem to even out the poor graphics.

I feel that the extremely extensive storyline and innate need to seek other guild players out to achieve goals is a move in the right direction for MMORPGs.

Hopefully with some more levels up my sleeve it will be on par with WoW, but is still not quite a game I would choose over one of my favorites.

Thus I am migrating back to WoW for the moment as there is much more content yet to be covered in this more simplistically rewarding game; including GW Factions at this time.

Till next blog, Ta Ta.

Harry back to Hog.

Well have played the new Harry Potter and am reasonably impressed, as with the previous Quidditch World Cup.  They are both very enjoyable games for all ages and only leave you wanting more.

Only wish the Movie and Game were as detailed and similar to the books since I enjoyed them too.

Guild-Wars Giant-Waste

Well I recently decided, after seeing the nominations for "game of the year", to purchase a copy of Guild-Wars.

I am sadly disappointed, the graphics are still poor in comparison to what I have come to expect.  Leaving Asheron's Call 2 and WoW as my number one favorites to-date.

I am anticipating the arrival of Oblivion with much New Year glee but will be sticking to WoW and EvE Online for the time being.

Wish I could return Guild-Wars but have already activated the account :(

WoW What a Game

Have been getting back into WoW recently with all these changes that I keep hearing about and lots of people approaching the end game I hope that I will find it more enjoyable through the already established communities.

This seems to be the cast atm with many people on-line at anyone point in time and I seem to be enjoying the storyline better then EQII now that I have gotten my characters out of the 20 level march.

Have subscribed with the full version in the US and like the diversity that has been put into the quest system, the graphics in general look better with my new nVidia and I am happy enough to keep paying for this level of service even tho it keeps going offline for maintenance in the afternoon for Australia.

Cheers for this blog,

Andrew
