@gaijingeist: they could have learned and NOT release it on diak so you'd have to download it. A meager objection. Companies will continue to cut content and withhold it because it's proftitable.

@The-Neon-Seal: not to burst your bubble, but Bloodmoon and Shivering Isles were expansion packs, not DLC. Semantics, gotta love em.

@Millard11: Truth. It looks bad because they used to have 12M+ subs, but anyone, Microsoft and Sony included, would kill to have 5.5M active paying subscribers shelling out $15 every month.

@randybumgardner: PC gaming has come back stronger than ever. You have no idea what you're talking about. Steam is a real force, and sell games like pancakes. Wii U is a joke. This current gen of consoles has had an abyssmal adoption rate compared to the previous gen. Hopefully Xbox is a dead brand by next gen. But Sony thank you for making an awesome comeback this gen.

@hvd2222: What is with Blizzard and Demon Hunters anyway, they are so in love with this emo-farting class that they deify it in all their games. DHs are ridiculously OP in Diablo, WOW and Heroes. What is up with that?

Blizzard should stop focusing on WOW and start making WOW2. Seriously.

The game has had an astonishing, history-making, record-breaking run, it is the most succesful MMO in history, but nothing lasts forever. What's happening here is Blizzard resting on its laurels, which should not be the case. Blizzard needs to be looking into making a Next-Gen WOW that can compete in a new freemium-centric world where everywhere tons of WOW Clones are available for free.

Most likely, though, the creative juices in Blizzard are all dead and nobody knows how to create a new game that can capture a subscriber base in today's ridiculously subscription-hostile environment. Blizzard is to in-love with the notion of monthly subscriptions that they don't even know where to begin, in so much fear that a new game will not capture the same easy money WOW gave them.

They should strike while the iron is hot and they still have millions of subscribers for WoW. A next-generation WoW with MMO innovations is what they need and not whatever stupid expansion they are churning out. Expansions are just there to prolong the inevitable, but the franchise is on life support right now.

Too bad Blizzard is so out of touch with the market that it doesn't know how to proceed. Heroes is nowhere near what LoL is, Diablo 3 is just a disaster, a well-selling disaster but an absolute disaster nonetheless, and WoW is just on life support. Starcraft is already iirelevant, and Warcraft hasn't been a game in like a decade.

There is nothing left for Blizzard but a cold, bleak future, what with how bumbling they are handling the business and scorning their fanbase.

Have you heard of a game called Elder Scrolls Arena? It had a huge continent-sized gameworld that was randomly generated. It could take you two days in real time to walk from one city to another. This was done with technology twenty years ago.

This is not so far fetched.

@sasami_adachi @Sgthombre by making movies? I doubt. That was the losing path, and he just continued on it.

@Munstable After WC3 and WC4 I knew Chris Roberts was a fool. His dreams of Hollywood created the worst games in the Wing Commander franchise. He put a high value on shooting badly-made and digitized film footage and burning it on a CD-ROM over gameplay and that was a recipe for disaster, as proven by the flops of gaming from the dark eras of the early 90's like Phantasmagoria and Johnny Mnemonic. Today we've moved on from these dark ages and rightfully so.

I still don't understand how people were praising WC3 left and right, that game ruined the Wing Commander franchise for me. I would have preferred he gone the other route and focused on more complex storylines and content, infinitely larger cause and effect scenarios for winning and failing mission objectives rather than the bad movie footage we got.
