FFIX...my favourite RPG of all time, perhaps my favourite game. When I played that game, I just found it in my brothers PSX game collection that he gave me. I Really liked the oldschool characters from FF1, and when I saw the pictures on the discs of classic chibi characters(especially Vivi, the black mage), I had to pop it in. FF7 was a good game, just...I missed these character styles. I was just seeing what the game was like, I thought to myself. Yeah right, those weeks confined to my room said otherwise.
FFIX gave me hope. I thought the series would only get beter, mixing the classic characters and other elements with the cinematic graphics and story.
That hope was crushed shortly with FFX. VA? You're kidding me, right? The characters made me cry...in a bad way. They were just...wrong. I felt nothing for them. I absolutely despise the designs. The voices are...well...just their existence pisses me off, but even worse was that they were terrible. The script was so bad...it was, when combined with the voice work, laughable. I like the little text bubble square things, and they aren't even in the text only 'conversations'. I say it like that because they didn't feel like conversations at all, compared to the emotional scenes in past FFs.
I'm just gonna leave that a summary of my hatred for FFX. I don't feel like writing the ten pages I would if I told you everything.
But...perhaps Square was trying something new. They could revert back, right?
FFXI. Oh my god...it's even more generic than FFX. There is no plot to be found here. All of the characters are generic MMORPG kinda stuff. But hey, you get to socialize, right? "lawl ur a girl lets cyber" "im nu caen u help?" "JOIN MI PARTY PLZ!1!1!!!1"
I'm not gonna go into what FFXII is shaping up to be. I'm already depressed. And don't mention Spirits Within, or I'll strangle you.
That is all, my people....I just hope Square will see what they've done. If not, they can just kill FF for all I care.
