A TV tuner card provides the componenets necessary to turn you monitor into a television. Thats really what a television is. A monitor with a built in tuner (and of course some speakers and some control cirtcuitry but you get the idea.

So the answer is, it depends on what you connect it to. Like the above poster said, If you connected it to an antenna, you'd get whatever channels the antenna recieves. If hook it up to cable, you'll get whatever channels you recieve as part of your cable service.

I would recommend develpoers to go the EPIC way.

They released UT2K3 which got a 8.8....that score is no way near bad.....but then they went and added a few features and outright bought a lot of mods and made UT2K4 which scored a 9.4 and remains as one of the best MP focused FPS to date.

UT2K4 sold a lot of copies and scored well...the developers are happy.......Many people who wouldn't have downloaded the mods, got allthe mods packaged in one and got a overall better deal...the consumers are happy:P

I know this couldn't be done to all the games....but games like NWN2 if repackaged with some cool mods and the latest patch with a bit of added content would IMO sell well.:D

DrDoomed

PPl hate rehashes and seeing as UT2003 let down the fans so badly they just had to buy UT2004 to make up for it.

...wait a minute that realy is great business sense lol. uwe boll style!

Updates to reviews basd on pathes, thats not a bad idea. Updates to reviews based on mods? No way. Its too much of a gray area and too much work for a reviewer. Take oblivion for example. I'd say its near impossible to do a thorough review of what every mod brings to the game. Besides, if a game requires modification to be good well then doesnt that by definition mean the actual game, the thing you pay for, is bad?

I used to put a lot of faith in gamespots reviews. Their opinions just seemd to be in sync with mine. That was with the old system though. The new system is just to vague for me. Its the same 5 star review system every other websight and their mom uses.

OMG, typo in title. I dont know why i put a dollar sign next to 40,000 LOL!DrummerDude1010

I love warhammer 40K as well. Still Warhammer $40k is a pretty apt description. Especially with apocalypse coming out.

[QUOTE="VooDooPC"]I have played, "utter garbage", and Oblivion is not it. It may be far from perfect but please go play some more games before you throw meaningless insults towards great games. Go play Loki, Dungeon Lords, or Rage of Mages too see what real, "utter garbage", is.sSubZerOo

I stand by my claim its a dumbed down piece of garbage unmodded.. The sole fact everything is leveled and character devolpment means absolutly nothing turns it into a second rate piece of crap action game... There is only one line of quests with interesting alternatives.. Other that the dark brotherhood.. They are all generic crap with no real consquences nor challenge.. Thats of course if you have the misfortune of pickinga gimped skil that levels up too fast..

The sole fact that you have access to every skilla nd you can be a master to all of them gives you no replayability what so ever.. AND the mere fact that the story is generic garbage doesn't help it much either.. With such a huge landscape you would think exploring would be fun.. BUT IT IS NOT.. 99% of all the udngeons are generic garbage.. I might as well do the same dungeon over and over agian the first I come across because they will have the same dififculty as well as drops..

To bring at least a little light to this, you obviously didnt read the actual interview. The lead designer on Fallout is the person responsible for the dark brotherhood quest line in Oblivion

Personally I just think its too bad bethesda has attached the fallout name to this game. I personally enjoyed oblivion (though I do think it was a step down from Morrowwind) and I do think I will enjoy this game very much. The game just isnt fallout though. Real time combat? Not fallout. Dialog unimportant? Not fallout. The list goes on and on.

There would still be plenty of naysayers but I think they would have far fewer if they just changed the name of the game.

It really is sad that we will never get a true sequal.

EDIT: I just read the whole interview. Should have done that before I commented. Sounds the guy they are interviewing (the lead designer) fully admits they are making their own game and not Fallout 3. That really irks me. Like I said, it sounds like they are making a pretty good game but why are you tormenting the die hard fans by calling it fallout. Its the same game without the name and I have a feeling that nobody who will be drawn to the game by the name is going to be happy with it. Instead of just enjoying the game I'm just going to be pining for a true Fallout 3. As an earlier poster said, this is really just a spinoff.

theres always going to be something better coming.inyourface_12

I dont think that was really the question. The implication is of course "should I wait?" but what was actually asked was "are they worth it". I'm struggling a little bit with the same question. Most of the time I'd say yes because, as you said, there will always be something better just down the road. Most of the time whats out now is good. I'm not sure thats true of the 8 series. They are killer dx9 cards but it seems they are only passable dx10 cards.

Its too bad we dont know when the series 9 cards are going to be out. It would make deciding what to do easy. If they arent coming out for 6 months, then by all means just buy the best you can now. If they are really coming out in november and they are really going to be ~$600 then my plan personally would be to wait.

Pro. The only advantage the elite has over the pro is the larger hard drive which is almost no benefit to me as I only have a crappy DSL conection that I wont be downloading any movies on. Even if I could download movies though I dont think I would. I dont like the idea of a movie being tied to my xbox, or at least an xbox hard drive.

[QUOTE="MrPower1"]Bad time to build because of Nvidia 9800 series that will be avilable in November.RayvinAzn

Then the R700 will be on the horizon, then Nehalem, then something with AMD processors, then newer DDR3 RAM, then SSD's, then...

If you look at things that way, it's always a bad time to build.

Normally I very much agree with you. I'm not too pleased that the current crop of DX10 cards seem to struggle withDX10 games though. 30 fps is passable but thats it, just passable. Games arent going to get less demanding and that 30 fps is only going to drop. When I buy a new PC I expect it to last a few years not a couple of months, especially when I'm shelling out $500.

[QUOTE="Crembo"]

Alright , I bought my 1950XT not too long ago , and I'm having a huge problem.

Well , when I start a game , everything runs normaly and smooth. But then , after about 5 minutes the FPS goes down from like 30~ (Lost Planet Demo DX9) to like 5-11 and stays like that. If I'm lucky , it comes back to normal after few seconds but , if I'm not lucky - the PC just stop , and everything is stuck (reset is required). Well , that's with the 7.8 and 7.7 Drivers. Well , than I deleted the drivers from my PC and installed the drivers that I got in the disk (with 1950XT). Well , I turn on (again) Lost Planet Demo and playing it , then , after 10 minutes the FPS falls to about 5-11 and then I exit the game.

Well , the same problem occured to me in the next games (7.7 and 7.8 Catalyst): Neverwinter Nights 2 , Lineage 2 , Tabula Rasa , Dungeon Runners , Lost Planet.

Though the problem doesn't happen in Enemy Territory Wolfenstein and Enemy Territory Quake Wars.

I dunno what to do , I'm really annoyed and want to fix the problem as fast as possible.

Thank you very much , Crembo.

Are ETW and ETQE Open GL or Direct X?

As I'm pretty sure that the games that are not working properly for you are direct X games. But I may be wrong on this, so feel free to point it out.

I believe your right. I know at least ETW is OpenGL
