I just wanted to point this out with Killzone 2: it's exactly like the first.

So you may ask: But what are you saying, it looks so good.

And I respond: Remember Killzone 1? Yea, same idea.

Killzone 1 got so much positive things going for pre-release. It looks great, its previews were awesome, and the graphics were superb. In case you forget, yes, its graphics were rather amazing for the time:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/1806.html

to be honest, what's so different? Both look(ed) solid, have great graphics (for the time), got great previews, and were suppose to be great games.

Am I saying Killzone 2 can only fail? No. I am however saying that, so far, with what we've seen of Killzone 2, it looks like it's happening all over again.

It truely depends on ones view on multiple disks. Yeah the install times arent long but still annoying after you finish an act but what if you lose a one out of the 5 disks (Theoratically speaking)? You're screwed.

SOedipus

you have to be an idiot to lose a video game disc...

....right. What happens if the disk gets scratched up? What if there is an accident? You lose one, you break one, whatever, he has a valid point.

Umm... not meaning to burst you bubble hear, rather trying to smash is: You realize that you'd be even more screwed with 1 disk. At least with multiple disks you can still play some of it... or exchange it at walmart (they don't care, they just look for a disk and say okay)

Five minutes? Each install during acts take only three minutes. :?

fiercedeity901

that's still ALOT more than 15 seconds and TC...i agree with u 100% the whole install thing is freakin idiotic....this is a freakin console...NOT a computer we pay extra money for more HDD space for things like demos and other crap...NOT installs i mean 5GB for DMC4??? what the hell? seriously, the 360 load times on that game are like 10-15 seconds...WOW...just...wow, that's so much of ur life wasted...so let's just MAKE these people install a 5GB piece of crap feature so that there isn't any load times i really don't see how sony could really have thought that a feature like that would actually be good for us...i really don't wanna waste 5GB on a stupid install maybe if it were like MB or KB...but not GB...that's just ridiculous

Jees, installs are not a big deal, nor is disk swapping- that's a thing I tried to highlight here!

However, the actual space installs take up are sort ofan issue. It'd be okay if it were 1 or 2 games, but seriously, why is every major title needing this? Still not a huge deal, but... ahh, whatever. It's not like there's a whole lot of the PS store

I know I might sound like a bit of a fanboy right now, But I recently bought MGS4 (beat it about 3 days ago) and something that ticks me off about the game: You have to reinstall each act. Yea.

Essentially, this is the worse case scenario people talked about if MGS4 were to be ported to the 360. It'd have to be like 5 disks (5 disks = 50 GB, even though MGS4 is 30GB). So essentially, blu-ray is limiting the drive speed so there's installs. So basically it runs like this:

Instead of switching disks, you have to install the game for each act. Now here's the (un)funny part: It takes roughly 15 seconds to switch a disk, it takes about 5 minutes for MGS4 to install each act.

So wouldn't MGS4 be, in reality, better suited for the 360 as far as a storage medium goes?

* this is not a bashing thread about MGS4. In fact I love the game. One of my favorites this gen. However, this is essentially what ps3 fanboys were ranting about what could happen with the 360. It happened with the ps3 first, and is much worse than how the ps3 fanboys said it'd be. Note: I am not saying that these installs are hard (it's whatever, i'd rather them not be there since going between levels requires it, but it's not a big deal).

darth-pyschosis

mgs4 includes mgo which makes it a 50gb game. its the multiplayer componet of the title should i say gears is 3gbs? just coz that culd theoritically be the SP campaign? and the first install was 5 minutes, each one after was 1 minute and who cares? its already compressed somewhat on BR, dvd has no chance

What's wrong with multipe disks. MGS4 is 32 GBs. I'm not going to even get into the fact that I bet there is so much repeated content/ dev scrap in there (as that's a rediculoud size considering sizes of JRPGs with more cutscenes, Lost Odyssey for example).

Again, I state this: It's not that I find installs horrible, it's just that "cows" as you guys call them (and it's growing on me to be honest), were essentially biting there own tail with out realizing it. It's just like my cat (such as weirdo cat- since when do cats do this? I thought it was only dogs?)

Haee

why would you lose a disk :?

Like uhh... jees. That's a new one.

There actually is an advantage of disk swapping I have taking advantage of: the fact that you can play each game individually. For example, me and my brother live seperately. We both have 360s. I bought Lost Odyssey and he also wanted to play it. I played disk 1, and finished it, and then started on disk 2 and he got disk 1. We were playing it simultaneously with one copy. Of course he actually played it quicker than me and wanted 2 when I was on 2, but that's a different story, lol. For linear games, I do like multiple disks. However, something like Oblivion would be horrible. Lost Odyssey is a great game for the record and I fully reccommend it to any JRPG fan.

^ read my note i added please. I edited it due to the fact that I thought I may have been sending across a wrong message.

Basically the whole point of my post it that you shouldn't be so quick to gang up on a particular issue (disk swapping). This also happened, sort of, with MyGamerPad and Home with xbox fanboys, but seeing as how it's not a required feature, it's not a severe imo. Still funny notheless.

Because people like things outside the box but, simpleminded people enjoy the same things over and over again. So I guess gaming will take longer to evolve because I think that next gen consoles are a joke but, I like to game so I am stuck with them. Because it has to have great graphics to be a good game.. where did we go wrong with these casual gamers?lvgaming

how exactly is Little Big Planet so new though?

If we want to hype something that does something new, why not hype Banjo 3? You know, where editing actually affects gameplay.
