Besides the massive scale, the ability to have up to 1000 units under your command, the campaign, the simple to use waypoint/ build queue system, intense battle scenes, online play, crazy experimental units, nukes that actually have a more accurate blast radius, the ground level view? Nope, can't really think of anything.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the kind of person drooling over my keyboard. I'm just saying that while pretty much every RTS could be considered 'just another rts,' SupCom does have some innovative stuff and is still fun to play.
The one thing that does get a little tiresome is how each battle can take well over an hour, with most of the time just waiting for your army to amass. Still, I won't be quitting anytime soon.
The only thing is CnC3 and SupCom are more future/ alternate-reality games, but they're still a blast. If you're looking for like literal, off the battlefield into your computer, realistic modern games, JTF was a decent demo but I'm not sure either about the actual game. In CnC Generals, there's the An Act of War mod (AAOW) that does an excellent job, with units like the M1A2 Abrams, MLRS, Bradley, and appropriate units for other factions.
Oh, and don't forget World in Conflict. Check it out here on Gamespot, there are some sweet videos. The basic plot is that in 1989 or something, when the Cold War was supposed to end, it actually blew up into World War 3. It has all the modern units, and will apparently not have to deal with resource collection and base building. It basically looks amazing, can't wait for a demo.
