Nope, quantum physics. They want to see what space is made out of by making the particles pop up so they can be measured. It is suspected sapce isn't empty, but that the particles that make it up pop in and out of existence too quick to be noticed

for anyone who gets confused: "if you fire a light pulse powerful enough into a vacuum, real particles will "pop" into existence."

Yeah. A black hole.

I now wonder how many things I am missing each day. BTW, same process works for covering right eye and looking at the circleRing_of_fire
Yes. The blind spot are on both eyes. So long as you have both eyes open your brain will compensate for this blind spot, so no worries.

Move closer and don't blink. The circle should completely disappear.

I' m on it. I' ll let you know of the outcome.

The reason why you have a blind spot is because there are nerves there. Kind of like computer wires running in-front of your vision, but i think that the reason we cant see them is because your brain ignores them because you see it all the time. Its kind of like when you wear your watch or hat, or when you hear a constant sound. Your brain will ignore it as part of the background after some time.

I didn' t know that so I guess something good came out of this thread :P

I could be wrong on the specifics but it something like that.
