It was a closed beta, for one. And it's over now. It ended a couple weeks ago. The only thing people can play now, if they still CAN play it (I don't know if it was something you could only play for a couple of days or what), is the preview of the Single-Player campaign. That was sent out to review sites and such to try out.
Yeah, it's true. You DO have the choice of making each account into a sub or master account. Sadly, I made mine into a sub account since it was my brother's PS3, and now I regret it. Especially since I can't get into Home.

Seriously, I was hoping for the exact same thing with the PS4 so that I wouldn't have to get up. But as for the second point, I've never had any lag issues online except one time during LBP when I was using wireless, so that's nothing that really bothers me.
From what I understand, it automatically registers every sub-account as not old enough. I'm only 17, though my account is set to 18, and I still can't get in. I've seen many cases where people can't get in either, and all these cases, people have sub-accounts. Let's hope they fix this.

I read a couple of previews for KZ2 that said that it's the best looking console game ever made, and GS was one of those previews. "[...]we would be remiss if we didn't mention the graphics--or more specifically, how awesome they are. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to say Killzone 2 is the best-looking console game we've seen." Though I'll admit Gears 2 and and MGS4 are very beautiful, having played them both in 1080p on a 60" LCD, I believe that Killzone 2 looks even nicer, and it appears that others agree.
As far as I know, there's no split-screen in the beta. But the beta ended last Sunday, sadly.
I'm pretty sure that the thing that people are playing now is a closed private testing for the single-player campaign and that's only sent out to those decided by Guerilla.
There's rumours of the possibility of a demo sometime before release, but otherwise, I think you'll have to wait till February 27th.
