@bdrtfm: Good points. However, a PC designed for handling these games is usually not designed to be an entertainment console put into the living room under a TV setup. They are large, unwieldy, and use a mouse/keyboard setup of some kind. You're thinking of the practicality here, which is part of it. But aren't considering that most people don't want a large, ugly, box in their living room that cant fit into the TV stand. These consoles are made to fit, no need to figure out motherboard, GPU, etc. Plus their OS's are optimized for use in gaming, social, integration with cable provider, music. Aside from that you only have to sign into one network to see friends, which isn't always the case with PC.
PC has its merits, but these are downsides with choosing that path, and the market seems to reflect that.
@7evenpoint: I agree about Nintendo. But how do you propose Sony/Microsoft handle hardware revisions when some of this newer technology wasn't there at the time of launch? You're talking years ago already for this gen. So keeping the hardware specs affordable for consumers and able to handle the OS/media is no easy task. Seems like they are keeping up with evolving tech, although that just means more money they want us to pump out...
Can't wait. Although a campaign would a nice addition, I hope they keep the focus on what they did best, which was the great multiplayer! Jungle and less urban environments seem hinted at in the trailer....
@dtimmy13: Really? The game's other competitors also offer more modes and offer the casual player some type of learning and practice. Deserved the 7/10 if not less for being an alpha release at full price. Capcom just wanted to meet their launch date.
