This last month has proved catastrophic for X-com. Multiple soliders have fallen in recent missions that have been happening too often to justify time for reporting. In light of the greater level of threats and higher loss of life the Council has removed its support of Xcom.

We can only pray the world is capable of maintianing peace without us..

So attempt 1 of Xcom defeated me... O well, I learnt a lot about how I should have played this game and I'll be giving it another go. I won't be making reports of this playthough though.

Mission 11- Emergency Rescuce

Location: Sao Paulo

Mission Report:

Midway to a mission in Sao Paulo our team was called back to deal with an emergency in Egypt. A full invasion had taken place and the civilians needed evacuating. Our team was redeployed in a bad situation and were not well equpit due to a lack of funding. All things considered the mission went well. An new species of alien appeared and we managed to capture one, providing another specimin for the people in the labs.

While Lt. Hourigan was injured, everyone else came through unscathed and earned promotions for their hard work.

Appendix 1:

The mission in Sao Paulo was completed shortly after the team returned form Egypt. Squaddie Naramore earned a promotion and Squaddie Atkins was injured. No other events have been reported.

Mission 10 - UFO Response team

Location: Germany

Team Deployed

Rookies P. Smith, A Smith. S. Read, D. Atkins & J. Narramore Mission Report:

The Satlite over Germany picked up a small UFO. An Intercepter successfully downed the UFO and the crash site became an objective. However with every experienced soldier injured from capturing the battleship I have been forced to either ignore a downed UFO or send in a team of rookies. The Rookies handled themselves well at first however as they approached the UFO the battle turned bloody. Rookie A Smith was killed before he even knew what was happening and Rookie Naramore panicked in the field. In the end we managed to come through and secure the UFO, earning promotions for 3 of the 4 survivors.

Two deaths in two missions... We need to step up if we want to avoid extinction...

All Enemies were elimanted but Rookie A. Smith becomes the second to fall since first contact.

3 survivors were promoted and admitted to the infirmary while S. Read neither took nor recieved any damage.

At least the UFO will provide some resources...

 

Mission 9 - Laying claim to the Alien battleship

Mission Report:

I've just finished listening to the accounts of the misson from those.. well those who were able to give me an account. What happened on that battleship sounds like some form of hell. The first half of the mission was done perfectly by the book with multiple aliens eliminated without a single injury. However once the first 2 out of 6 objectives were complete everything took a turn for the worse. A new alien weapon, floating in the air, unleashed devestation wounding two soldiers and left Lt. Pegg in critical condition. If Lt. Hourigan hadn't been there the only survivor of that damned first contact would be written on our memorial wall just like the rest of his squad. The team pulled togehter and completed the third and fourth objective before the worst of it hit them. Pushing through a door Zhang met attacks from multiple aliens... He didn't stand a chance and is body was returned to HQ in a bag... Squaddie M Davis then panicked and shot wildly, hitting the already injured Lt. Pegg further although he was still stable. Thanks to the level headed thinking and steady aim of Lt Hourigan, the last enemies were eliminated and the final two objectives secured.

All Enemies were elimanted but Agent Zhang becomes the first to fall since first contact.

All survivors were promoted and admitted to the infirmary. Lt Pegg's injuries have been marked as grave.

The council wanted a battleship? We gave them one and paid for it in blood.

Mission 8 - Scrambling Alien battleship

Mission Report:

Prior to this mission we recieved a highly troubling report. An alien battleship was above China and placed the entire region under high alert. An Xcom team was deployed after scientists developed a method of scrambling the battleships navigation in order to protect the city. The team was deployed in a train station with the intent of spreading scramblers along a train then using it to transport them to various locations. The team arrived and quickly moved to secure the first carriage of the train. With Lt. Arnold providing cover fire on the train roof, there didn't appear to be any threats. However several infiltrators were located and eliminated before the true alien threat appeared. 2 members of a new species of alien were dropped right into the battlefield. These new enemies appeared to take the role of front line fighters and were a lot tougher in terms of weapons and armor. However dispite the great risk our team pulled through and brought back a live member of this new species for the benefit of our scientists. Several of our soldiers suffered injuries but they managed to eliminate every alien and deploy the scramblers before starting up the train.

All Enemies were elimanted and no agents were lost.

Lt. Barr, Read and Arnold were all admitted to the infirmary.

The council will want a squad up on that battleship while it is vulnerable asap. With wounded men I'm not sure how well this is going to go...

Mission 6 & 7 - Abduction response in Mexio

Prior to this mission autopsys were performed on the first 2 types of alien encountered. This research led to improvements to our arial forces.

Mission Report:

Simple mission. Go in, eliminate hostiles, leave with heads held high. A small miscommunication led to S. Barr getting injured before he secured the last kill.

All Enemies were elimanted and no agents were lost.

Sargeant Barr and Corporal's Read and Arnold were promoted for their efforts.

Our actions have kept South America free of panic but Africa and Europe are both entering states of emergency.

Another autopsty was completed providing new research into new armor for close ranged combat.

Mission 7 - Abduction response in France

Mission Report

This mission in France was a much deadlier battle. Intial alien encounters were small and easily eliminated. However a much larger force was encountered and with out relaxed guard, S. Pegg suffered multiple hits. During this battle both Sargeant Arnold, who scored 5 individual kills, and Sargeant Hourigan, whose medical skills saved Sargeant Read's life, earned their promotions with honor. Sargeant Pegg, Read and Rookie Davis were all admitted to the infirmary, with S. Read's being marked as gravely wounded. I am fortunate to have such a well knit team and we were all able to get through and return home.

Every member of the team was promoted for their actions

France donated addtional funds to Xcom. However South America and Africa are showing signs of greater levels of panic

Mission 5 - Triad Meeting

Location: China

Mission Report:

A second council request has been passed on. A former Triad member has contacted us saying he is in possession of an alien artifact he stole from his former boss. Now he is being hunted by both his former employers and the alien threat. The team was deployed at the location of the VIP with an evacuation point set up at the opposite end of a park. It was during this mission that the alien threat proved they are not as well organized as I had feared. An infiltrator was deployed right next to C. Barr. C. Barr immediately engaged and stunned the infiltrator gaining a big bonus for the scientific labs back at HQ. Alien threats were found and neutralized as the team progressed through the park, picking up minor injuries on the way, but once the team reached the exit at the far end, a new species of alien was spotted. S. Read opened fire and managed to injure the alien causing it to blindly charge into our team where Corporal Pegg took it down with a single shotgun blow after realizing that stunning the alien wouldn't work. With the area cleared of alien threats, the VIP was escorted to the drop ship without incident.

 

All Enemies were eliminated and no agents were lost. C. Pegg and C Barr were both admitted to the infirmary for several days to recover. All 4 members of the team were promoted for their actions to either Sergeant or Corporal respectively

The council provided us with additional funding as well as 2 engineers and 2 scientists as a reward for our efforts Reserach into experimental weaponary led to a new design for a cannon to be fitted to an intercepter. While its short range puts the intercepter at risk, its damage output may offset the drawbacks. Research has been moved into interrogating the captive alien.

Mission 4 - Investigating a downed UFO

Location: Europe

Mission Report:

After satilite readings picked up an Unidentifed Flying Object above Europe, Intercepter 2 was deployed to engage. Within 2 hours we recieved word of our first air to air victory. Intercepter 2 returned to HQ with minor damage and a 4 man squad was deployed to the crash site in order to ensure any survivors are eliminated and that an valuable research materials are recovered.

Our team arrived at the site reporting an all clear. As they approached the downed UFO they encountered a token resistance which was put down almost as quickly as it appeared. However as Squaddie Arnold approached the UFO as part of a successful flank, an unknown entity materialised within the UFO. Squaddie Arnold opened fire with his pistol and managed to score a hit. However the entity responded, injuring Squaddie Arnold who paniced and returned fire. Either by fate or sheer luck Squaddie Arnold scored a second hit causing the entity to dematerialise. With the entity gone the crash site was secured for X-com.

All Enemies were elimanted and no agents were lost.

All 4 members of the team were promoted to Corporal for their efforts

I've just recieved word that the council is ready to speak to me with a new request. Since the mission we have completed the alien containment room and finished research on alien weaponary as well as a new sidearm designed to knock out aliens. I'd report further but the Council is waiting.

Mission Report:

The Council had recieved word of a civilian that had been abducted but had escaped captivity. X-com forces were deployed to investigate the information and found that the rumors were true. The team moved forward thoughout an open park, with a member covering both permineters to ensure security. Alien threats were found, including aliens disguised in a humanoid form, most likely to reduce suspicion upon sighting, and eliminated as they appeared. The civilian was recovered and safely escorted back to safety.

All Enemies were elimanted and no agents were lost. Mission Reward: 5 Scientists, additional funding and reduced panic across the globe.

Rookie Read and Arnold were promoted for their actions

Timothy Read was promoted to Squaddie and assigned the Assault class

Lucas Arnold was promoted to Squaddie and assigned the Sniper class.

Reserach into alien physiology completed. Research and engineering has requested that a live specimen be obtained. I'm not sure how I feel about risking lives for such an attempt. However I've approved research into a weapon that would incapacitate a target and construction into a suitable containment has begun.

Mission 2 - Investigate and erdicate Alien threat

Mission Report:

After arriving at the location the first move was to secure a nearby building. Once cleared Squaddie Pegg moved to the rooftop while Hourigan and Barr took up posititons inside near windows should any alien activity appear. Rookie Lucas moved around the building to ensure no possibility of flanking. As S. Pegg reached a safe point on the roof, 2 Aliens were spotted in the clearing behind the building. The Aliens opened fire destorying S, Peggs cover. S. Pegg responded eliminating both threats, one with his LMG and the other with his Rocket Launcher. With no aliens in sight the team moved forward at a slow pace until 2 additional aliens were spotted beyond several shipping containers. Both aliens fled into a small building, taking places on either side of the door S. Pegg was injured rushing forward to secure a closer shot but managed to destory the enemy cover leaving both targets wide open for Rookies Horurigan and Barr to finish off the aliens.

All Enemies were elimanted and no agents were lost. Mission Reward: 4 Scientists. Negative outcomes: Panic increased in Asia.

S. Pegg was admitted to the medical bay for 9 days while both Rookie Hourigan and Barr were promoted for their actions

Ben Barr was promoted to Squaddie and assigned the Assault class

Gabriel Hourigan was promoted to Squaddie and assigned the Support class.

Reserach into improved armor was completed and deployed.
