After purchasing X-Com Enemy Unknown on steam during the summer sale, I've decided to play the game with some interesting additionals turned on and record my missions to build the story to a new level. I'll be blogging how X-com unfolds for me here.

I'll be playing with the following:

Normal Difficulty (I'm new to the series!)

Ironman (each decision is irrivocable)

Main base in Europe (Since I'm from UK!)

Not created equally: New recruits will have random stats

Hidden potential: Stat growth on leveling up has been randomised

The last two options I picked because I do prefer a more random influence at times.

I'll finish this entry off with a short summery of the tutorial mission and I'll mention there will probably be spoilers throughout.

Mission 1 First Contact - Extract:

Location: Germary

Soldiers deployed: 4

Summery: Delta team was deployed to Germany after an extra terrestial object fell from space. A german recon team was sent to evaluate the situation but was reported missing after being attacked. Delta team discovered two of the German recon team, both dead, and proceded into a nearby building where a survivor of the recon team was found. With Delta 1, 2 and 4 in flanking position, Delta 3 approached the survivor to disarm him and check for injuries. However once Delta 3 had approached the survivor, an extra terrestial creature was found to be controlling him through an unknown method. The survivor opened fire at Delta 3, striking a killing blow, before killing himself with a grenade. Delta 1 was killed by another extraterrestial who had been waiting in ambush.  Delta 2 and 4 managed to eliminate two out of 3 targets before the last extertresstial killed Delta 4. Delta 2 finished the last extertersstial off and reported the all clear. Delta 3, named Jonathan Pegg, was promoted for his actions whilst the rest of delta squad was added to the memorial wall for the viliant efforts.

The alien technology was retrieved and handed over to the science division who began work on developing better armor to reduce damage and hopefully ensure we never add another name to the memorial wall.
