Lets see, what would I get: Zelda OOT, MGS Snake Eater, DQ remakes of DQ I/II/III as well as DQ XI (Since X is confirmed for the Wii), FF Remakes of FFV/VI, FF Tactics A3, Kid Icarus, a New Zelda game, and a bunch of others (Yes I know that there are a few games on this list that are unconfirmed, although in time I am sure they will be ;)

I used to be a fan of the Final Fantasy Series, and still am, but only the ones from IX down (FF VI and FFVII are my all time favorites). I feel that the FF series has "lost" something in these past years, where as the DQ series has "gained" something. I dont know what it is and I cant put my finger on it. But alas Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes was bleah. Not bad, but not that good, and not not even close to the epicness of DQIX.
The 3DS is comming out in about 3 months or so (Sometime before the end of March currently) so you might want to save your pennies. The new 3DS is completly backwards compatable with all current DS titles, and of course the 3DS will sport a lot of new features as well, and its own new library of games. If you have a lot of GBA titles you might want to pick up a DS lite so you can play your DS/GBA titles on the same system. If you have a GBA or two then the DSi is great too, it just lacks the GBA slot so you can play your GBA games on it. Some of the DSi ware games are fun, but they are not really full featured games, more like mini games for the most part, but they are cheap - costing about 3 to 8 bucks (300-800 points). There is no confirmed price for the 3DS yet mind you, but it could be anywhere from 200-300 bucks (any guess on price is pretty much pointless until it comes from Mr. Iwata's or Reggie's mouth sometime during the Nintendo press event in NYC in mid January).
So it's up to you. If you get a DS now, you can start saving up for a 3DS if you are able too. I wouldn't worry about a lack of new DS titles being launched after the 3DS release though. The DS was released on November 21st 2004 and the last GBA games were made as late as 2007 if I remember.
Personally, I always go out and buy "last generation's system" when its about to be discontinued, when its at its cheapest and keep it in a sealed box. I own a SNES, Genesis, PS one, PS2, N64, Gameboy color and GBA all unopened and sealed in the original boxes just incase my active ones go belly up.
Hope this helped you!
Looking back on the Thread that I started 3 Years ago, I'm glad to see some of the games I mentioned here come true. Now we have DQ V and the new original title IX, and VI is on the way. A remake of FFVI which was awseome and Golden Sun III. The DS has one of the best libraries of RPG games!
If you are talking about GB/GBC games, then none as I didnt really get into the Gameboy much, except for the Dragon warrior/quest games 1+2 and 3, that I also owned on the NES. (Got my first gameboy when it was released in 1989 and only have like 4 games for it). If you are talking about GBA games, then there are several games I'd like to see
Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy IV/V/VI, Fire Emblem VII and VIII (Self titled and sacred stones), Golden Sun 1 and 2, all Three Castlevanias, and several several more. I'd like to see over half of my GBA collection up on the 3DS VC!
If nintendo doesnt release GBA titles on the VC, then its a feature that I will not be using. Preferibly I'd would have liked to see ALL the VC games for the wii on the 3DS as well. No reason not to, its not like the 3DS wont be powerful enough to play NES to N64 games.
Yeah, I am hoping they are comming out with both Final Fantasies V and VI for the 3DS, since they totally just blew them off on the DS after the release of IV.
Ok, here are some games I'd love to see remade, rehashed, released or whatever!
- Fire Emblem:Ok, its time for a Fire Emblem game on the DS! I Loved both installments on the GBA, Yet there is no news of anything being developed for the DS (as far as I know).
- Tactics Ogre: Along the same lines as Fire Emblem, I'd love to see a new installment of the Tactics Ogre series on the DS. Another great game that is long overdue for a DS installment.
- Dragon Quest/Warrior V and VI: Squar-Enix, wheres the love here? As far as I know DQ V and VI were never ported over to the US. Great Series back in the NES days, so why stop now? We have VII and VIII for the PS1 and PS2 respectivlely, why not V and VI? Square loves remaking games (Final Fantasy anyone?) Give us the chance to play some of the older DQ games, with a fresh coat of paint on the DS. Hey, while you are at it, why not make a good remake of Dragon warrior I though IV while you're at it!
- Street Fighter: While I am not a huge fan of Fighting games, I used to love the Street Fighter series. I'd love to have the opportuity to play these great games using 6 buttons once again (brings back memories of Playing SFII on the SNES)
- Warcraft II: I know, and odd request. I loved Warcraft II back in the day, i'd like to see a DS version. I am fairly sure the DS can handle a 10 old plus computer game. I doubt Blizzard would really get into making games for consoles or handhelds though. Blizzard, make Diablo for the DS as well too ;)
- Golden Sun III: This shouldnt even have to be said, but sadly it must. I and II were great. I think its time for a Third installment on the DS.
- Ultima: One of my favorate old school series. Lets bring new life to a great series.
Well, there is probably more that I cant remember right now. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanace 2 was almost on this list but I found out that they are actually making it! Finally a Game i'd like to see actually is comming to life. The DS is a great system, but there arent many quality RPG's out there (RPGs and Tactical RPGs are my favorate Genre). I have both Final Fantasy III and Pokemon Diamond and thats about it. I know there are other RPGs out there, but from what many people have said, they arent that good. The DS is rife with puzzle games and "brain" games.I really want to see some better RPGs soon.
