I usually like looking at Gamespot's graphics comparisons, but these pictures are all terrible in quality. Somebody tell the person who took these screenshots to use 720p or 1080i next time.
As long as 3D doesn't add game enhancements beyond cheap gimmicks and continues to require cumbersome and headache-inducing equipment, it will be nothing but a fad that frustrates gamers and drains the pockets of publishers.
I can't imagine triple SLI/crossfire becoming mainstream any time soon. There are no games that cant' be run well by a ~$200 gpu from the 200 series or equivalent ATI. Two 8800GTs would have no trouble running anything around today yet somehow there's a market for the 5870 and 480GTX
about this time last year, Sins of a Solar Empire reached 500,000 copies sold. Maybe not enough to satisfy a publisher like EA, but I think it's a good example of how well a game can do with absolutely no DRM and a very limited advertising budget.
