I don't think so. Games developed for mobile devices are all extremely simplistic, repetitive and therefore boring. PC gaming is much bigger, more complex and gives gamers plenty of options.
No matter how fun a game is on a mobile device, you just can't stand it after a couple of minutes. On PC you can perfectly play for hours without even noticing it . Let alone features other than gaming (professional video/audio editing, text documents, presentations, etc).
By the way, consoles have learned a lot from the PC :D
The PC has always been a solid (gaming) platform; though some people still continue to come up with ridiculous and misleading articles like the above mentioned.
Hardware: I bought a Thermaltake Level 10 mouse that cost $60, it looked really nice but stopped working after two days (and never worked again). Worst part was I had to wait two months to get my money back. By the way, I strongly suggest you guys avoid purchasing any third party controller. Only buy the official ones (either Microsoft or Sony).
Games: Oh boy, it's a long list. But the ones I recall are: DN4Ever (100% crap), Betrayer (I'm still trying to figure out what that game was about), any Call of Duty title, just name it... (Well, CoD 4 and 5 were actually pretty good).
