Hi Just been looking around and found out that the PSU might not be sensibly powerful enough to run the machine. From reading around, AMD recommend around 500 watts for the card. Should I replace the PSU with this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-OCZ-CXS500W-UK-CoreXStream-Series-Supply/dp/B007SU2QRK/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1347763986&sr=1-1 Seems like I would be saving money as well.

Ok thanks.

I think I've made my list now. It comes up to around £500. It includes:

- Intel FC-LGA12C Core i5-3450 Processor (6M Cache, 3.50 GHz)

- Seagate ST500DM002 3.5 inch 500GB Hard Drive (Serial-ATA, 6Gb/s, 16Mb, 7200RPM)

- Sapphire Radeon 11179-09-20G HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

- Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-DS3H Motherboard

- Crucial Ballistix BLS2CP4G3D1339DS1S00CEU 8GB (4GB x2) DDR3 Memory Kit

- Thermaltake PSU SMART 430W/80plus White Certificated Power Supply

- Antec three hundred midi case

Also, the price includes mouse, keyboard and a wireless USB internet adapter.

From the research I've done, I take it that this enough to power most games coming out next year (and possibly the following few, at lower settings) at either high/max?

EDIT - Crap...I forgot about sound. I'm not sure if the motherboard comes with a soundcard onboard or if I need to buy one. I'll be running through the TV (HDMI cable) so I'm assuming that the TV will take care of it.

Alright thanx dude! So far, It's come up to £430 which is excellent. I've done abit of research and I reckon I could swap out the Radeon 7770 HD for the 6870. From what I've read, they are better than the 7770 (Link: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/536?vs=540)

EDIT - sorry, how much slower in loading are we talking when it comes to the RPM differance of a hard drive?

^^ Sorry, slightly confused?

I can use my laptop hard drive in the desktop? If so, that would be excellent and would save money.

Thanks alot for taking the time to find those for me. I don't honestly need 500GB so I could save money on that. 250GB would be more than enough for me. I would also require a CD/DVD reader and a OS.

Hi

I used to play pc games back in my teens (CS:S, HL2 days) but now I've made a decision to see if I can buy a decent gaming rig since my laptop is starting to fail me. I've been playing consoles ever since and I would like to make the leap back in since there are so many good titles that are coming out. Since it's been awhile, I'm massively out of date on whats good or bad on the market. I don't have alot of money so I'm trying to do it on the cheap.

I intend to use the PC with my TV (it's an LG HD tv)

I googled around for custom-built PCs and found a website which can do me the following for £400

- Intel Pentium G620 (2 x 2.6 GHZ)

- 350w PSU

- RAM Corsair 8GB XMS3 PC3-10666 1333MHz (2x4GB)

- NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 - 2 GB - (ZOTAC) - (PCI-E)

- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H (Intel B75) - VGA/DVI/HDMI

- 250 GB SATA-II HDD 7200 RPM 8MB

- Samsung 22x DVD/CD Re-Writer/Reader

(The website I'm using in question is computerplanet.co.uk. I get a 3 year warranty plus free gifts)

Will this be powerful enough to play all the top games that will be coming out for the next couple of years (http://uk.ign.com/games/upcoming/pc)? Ideally, I would like to play on high/ultra settings with high resolution.

Thanks in advance for your time :)
