'A few months old' but with dated technology in it...i'm nearly certain it's got a generic 3-400w at best which would in real terms put out much less, and this should be considered before he buys a gaming card

Sidewinder X6 is a nice board and a good purchase - it's only problem is you can't get it to raise to an angle for better comfort

(obviously because of the magnetic detachable numpad thing)

Have a look around for a cheap G15 Keyboard though, have seen them going for 70$ AU new on eBay so should be ~ $100 NZ

I stand by my advice - you should use all resources available to make sure you're as educated as possible, and obviously a website dedicated to PC Hardware is a good place to start..

Do not be buying prebuilt systems from Dell or whatever if you're intended to return to gaming on a budget - neither of those systems will play decent games at respectable settings without pouring buckets of cash into them. (big big buckets)

Create a post in this forum with your budget and required uses of the PC and you will get some really useful help and good gaming builds suggested.

My advice would be to wait till you've got close to 1k before you bother starting (as upgrading bit by bit can be alot more expensive), spend the next few weeks watching youtube clips of how to build a PC if you're new to it and flipping through that forum.

What he probably meant by 'not fit' is that that system has some crappy power supply that does not have pci-e connectors or enough juice to power even a lowly 9800gt.

Open her up and let us know what it's got

^ agree with the above - open headphones not for use outside the home thats for sure. You'll either be annoyed at outside noise disrupting your listening or have people glaring at you as they can hear every word of your music.

Not to mention that the jack on them is huge / not the standard 3.5mm mp3 player size - so you'll needto use an adapter and the included one is awkward and likely to damage the player if yanked or treated roughly.

The Microsoft Sidewinder X8 is brilliant - and priced very well.

Not as pretty as some Razer mice but zero lag and wireless is definately the way to go!
