[QUOTE="blaznwiipspman1"]

However, nvidia lines the pockets of this man and other people like him out there to say things like this. What do you think 'The way its meant to be played" game sponsors by nvidia is for? blaznwiipspman1

so john carmack likes a product and he is in bed with the company? guy is not allowed to have an opinion about something that is different from yours?

also, "the way its meant to be played" is a marketing thing. its what companies do. if you think amd is so awesome because they don't do that, good for you. use amd products.

but there is no sense in blaming a company for marketing its products.

in all honesty i won't moatter pysx was developed by nvidia, so all in all if it's their software they have everyright in doing what they please to hold back from other companies being able to use, yes it is greedy but hey wth can you do they did develop it.

I respect AMD for not trying to standardize propriety software and make it exclusive to their hardware. For example a while back physx actually WORKED with a single radeon card and another geforce card dedicated to physx. Nvidia released drivers that disabled this feature because they didn't like that their software was also being used with another companies card without the other company licensing it. Its a disgusting practise and its not good for consumers. Not to mention the billions of dollars they spend to try to make sure that games run better on their hardware by writing code specifically tailored to their cards. You can call that marketing but I find things like that pathetic and illegal. A reason why I respect AMD is that you won't see them doing stuff like this and they are much more supportive of open source software. I personally won't be buying another geforce card until nvidia fixes their way.

I swear, this is my last question. That is all I need, just the difference between the two is all.

Also, I have taken everyone's advice, it is just they are all so mixed it is hard to know who to believe. But I seem to like Hardware Heavens Reviews, since they do real world gameplay. I only started several polls because the other ones, well, died.

I have been looking at water cooling but don't really know where to start? or if I really need it, I run a mild overclock of 4.3GHz and the CPU idols at 30c and loads at 65c. The only problem I have is my GPU it idols at 39c, hits 79c during games and can go as high as 100c while running OCCT.

you can actually check out the swittech ultima 220+ kit if you are going to start out, but if you want to do your own custom loop you cana ctually do a bit of research. It is very easy to do only thing you must be careful with is maitence and watch for leaks, but i have been leak proof for almost three months now let alone the 360mm rad and gpu block i added into my loop. ;)

I finally have my PC up and running again after 3 weeks of waiting for my motherboard to be replaced. I have a few images of the PC as of now finished untill I have a need for another 6950.

Enjoy.... Please let me know what you think good or bad.

adam0926

not a bad case it looks like a nice 360mm Rad would fit nicely on the bot.

Right. I'll try not to make this a wall of text but i need to get accross as much info as possible.

A month or two ago I started having lots of problems, lock-ups, BSODs, refusing to boot etc. I discovered it was a bad stick of ram since one of them booted and ran fine but the other refused to boot. I RMA'd to corsair and they sent me a new pair a week or so later. I put them in and everything seemed fine... For a week.

Now I'm having similar problems, but no booting problems. BSODs and lock-ups, but not the refusing to boot I had before. This confuses me even more.

I just want to know what's causing the problem, I'm assuming it's not ram since i replaced that. I'm leaning to hardware over software since i've crashed even in safe mode a couple of times, but obviously i'd love it to be a software problem since i wouldn't have to replace everything.

Tests i've done:

WD lifeguard says my HDD is fine

Prime95 stops and says hardware error (rather than causing a BSOD) CPU problem? (not OC'd atm)

No overheating or dust issues.

Any ideas guys? Please help.

Sometimes its fine but it can crash anywhere from 5 seconds after boot to an hour of browsing the web (I'm on it now).

Please help me fix my demon PC

EDIT: Another weird thing, I'm getting lots of different BSODs, not just the same one again and again. I tried googling some of them but nothing seemed to give me a decent answer.

Second edit: Another thing, programs keep on randomly crashing for no obvious reason. At the moment windows won't let me use live messenger or live mail, giving me some random error.

kraken2109

still sounds like a ram issue, but it also could be a cpu prob also....what were the rounding errors with prime btw?
