The game was not nearly deserving of the high praise it receieved.

I read a bunch of reviews for the game, picked it up, and expecting something....you know, fun. I was letdown.

Ever since then, I stopped buying Nintendo games on or near release. I wait at least 6 months to pick something up. After that time, the hype from waiting from for a new Mario has died down, and many of the fanboys go away. You can actually get a honest answer if you fish through the blatent fanboyisms.

Not to just leave you with a rant, I came up with a theory of sorts, trying to figure out why such high praise.

I don't think I'm stretching anything by saying that largely, the media grew up with Mario, so it has the nostalgic feeling. Rating something highly makes it feel like thier holding on to their past more, and by somehow praising a titles newest outting, making thier past seem more valuable.

Take a look at Sonic Adventure. The DC crew loved the game. But when the port was released on GC....pretty bad scores. I know that it was a older port, and there were some flaws, but in the 5 range is pushing it. Especially when you look at some of the GBA/DS old Mario collections.

On Sonic Adventure DX there was this quote "very sloppy port of a game that has long been undeserving of its high praise".

And then they go on and give Mario unreal scores.

Flame on.

First, Billy M is a total clown.

Secondly, at the end of the movie Steve ends up with the high score in Kong.

After the movie was released, Billy M once again took the high score.

I gotta say though...

I'm going to miss having a dedicated football board.

But it's just a small price to pay.

What exactly ie a moderation, or being modded?

Is that when a mod edits something you say?

Over there, modded means become a mod. Which for some reason, 90% of the users want to be. Weak.

It's like politics at that place.

The same forum where I asked a question. Someone blatently posted about borrowing his friends CD collection and putting it on his itunes (piracy). A mod actually edited his post and replaced burning with "listening".

The place is played out.

The rules are pretty strict here, but I'd have to say this is the best and most unique community I've com across. Give the Terms of Use a quick glance. thing about here is that if you get banned once, you are done forever.Cube_of_MooN

I was with IGN for a good while.

Never really did anything bad, yet would get banned for stupid things. Such as...

Asking a question if posting a certain link was bannable (no link was supplied in the message). I recieved no respeonse, other than a screen that said "BANNED".

And just recently, I was banned because people hacked into some girls facebook and started posting all her pics on the site. I actually felt kind of bad, since if someone did it to my sister, I know she would be pissed. And for trying to help someone out...BANNED.

I come to ask, are the mods here just as bad?

Should I leave IGN?
